Agreed, but you have to think where these morals came from. Socially, we are based on religious morals. I am not saying it's right or wrong, it's just a fact.

does anyone remember a little thing called seperation of church and state. There should be no religion in government-period. Nuff said!

Religion and Politics should never mix as you'll end up living by someone elses morals that are completely subjective and do not reflect your own, but because of this you'd be forced to live by these 'morals' anyway. It disturbs me that just because a child is born in a certain country they'd have no choice but to have other peoples ideas of morality shoved down their throats from the beginning and have their views completely distorted without ever forming their own opinion.

Religion and leaders ideas of morality based on these beliefs should never influence decisions made for the general and diverse thinking public.

A couple points though. The fact that the quote is by hitler can be interperted two ways, either that the GOP has Naziesque tendancies or that Hitler knew how to say what people wanted to hear. It also brings up an interesting philshopical question, Is a statement of true good evil if that statement is spoken by an evil man? In other words if hitler had said in a speech "All people should work together for the good of the nation" would it be an evil statement?

On the seperation of church and state it does not mean what most of you seem to think it does. The seperation of church and state means that the state can not endorse, or officialise a religon not that those in government can not use religous beliefs to make decisions. While a law which makes catholic prayer a part of public school curriculum would violate the seperation of church and state a legislator who determines whther or not to vote on a law because of his religous beliefs would not.

Finally the basis of ALL western law is judeo-christian morality for the simple fact that all those in power in the west for the last 500 years at least have been christians.

What's the difference is one is forced to live by morals set by religion or by a government, they both succeed in the same thing.

Regardless of what morals or laws we have we will force people to live by them. It is impossible to do without so the arguement is flawed from the get go.

The reason some of the religious groups that came to this country was to be free to worship their various religions. Not to be told what to believe by a King or Pope. Now religious people want to do the same exact thing as the old Kings and Popes. People are so dumb it is incredible. By saying Christianity you are denying equal rights to Muslims, Buddists and many others.

THE MAJORITY OF THE IMMIGRANTS TO THIS COUNTRY CAME HERE FOR ECONOMIC REASONS. It would be unfair to foist your religion on them.

These right-wing christians want to turn the US into a theocracy like Iran or Taliban Afghanistan.

Slank who exactly wants to impose christianty on anyone? There was a muslim place of worship on the same block as my last home, and I took pride in the fact that the U.S.A., which is a predominantly Christian country, allows anyone to worship as they choose.
Satanism, buddhism, islam, christianity, judaism, shinto, and rastafarianism are all legal in the U.S. and all have communities, churches, and followers in the U.S. all are legal and discrimination against any is illeagl. How is that imposing anything????
