At the moment in Australia there is a air combat exercise going on in the northern territory where a group of different nations are participating in this exercise. About 75 air craft from Australia and France, Singapore and Thai air force are there but the Americans can not make it at the moment due to there commitments in Iraq and will be participating as normal when the war is over there.




is the Royal Australian Air Force's largest exercise. It provides participants with high complexity Air Combat training opportunities. Pitch Black exercises are held biennially. Pitch Black 2004 will be conducted in the Top End between 19 July and 5 August 2004
There will be approximately 1000 additional personnel deployed to RAAF Base Darwin and a further 700 personnel deployed to RAAF Base Tindal.
Approximately 75 aircraft will participate in Exercise Pitch Black 2004.

Australian personnel drawn from Bases across Australia representing Air Combat Group, Surveillance and Response Group, Combat Support Group, Air Lift Group and the Australian Army.

How come the US air force isn't there i know it cant be cuz the situation in Iraq they have a carrier that provides air support in Iraq the navy is not the air force and currently our air force is doing nothing so i�m surprised they aren't participating.
