EADS Military Aircraft is responding to these demands with a family of single- and twin-seater supersonic, high-performance aircraft known as Mako.

The definition phase of the aircraft development program will complete in 2005 and the first flight is scheduled for 2009. A world market for the Mako light combat aircraft is estimated at up to 3000 aircraft over a twenty-year period.

Weapons (Bewaffnung): As a light combat aircraft, Mako could have an internally-mounted 27 mm gun. It features seven external stations (wingtips, fuselage, two under each wing) for a wide variety of weapons, like:
