Neurological cooling is an example of how carefully controlled hypothermia can save lives.
It goes back to 400bc, when soldiers packed wounds with ice and snow.
Deep hypothermia was used in open heart surgery before heart-lung bypass machines came in.
Medics were using hypothermia with babies in the soviet union decades ago. The idea is if you cool the body down you protect it because it reduces metabolism.
The 10cm trip you make in being born is the mist dangerous of your life. Blood supply can get critically low to vital organs.
You can get the brain injury hypoxic ishemic enecphopathy.
There is a high risk of death and until now there wasn't much hope.

That's a good find, pity the procedure only works for 1 in 9 babies. Can this work on older people?

wow, awesome find! S & F
Good on little Ella! Hopefully she is always treated well and never victimised by any "group" wanting to use her survival story for their own purposes. All that time without oxygen and no brain abnormalities? It would be great if they release certain information as to how she progresses.
I wonder why only 1 in 9 survive... Have they done this on that many? What do the survivors have in common?
I did some reading and hypothermia certainly has a reputation for aiding in saving lives!

Great Find OP , Thank you. you reminded me of something else i had seen

I remember seeing something similar about a female doctor from one of the Scandinavian countrys who "died" after falling into Icy water , and was dead for around a day or so and they put ice blankets around her head and slowly raised her temperature and she miraculously lived, There is a video of her describing the whole event in person when she recovered , Although i do not remember the link i will try to find it. Amazing possibilities.

I hope that Baby in question has no long term damage.

Once again thanks to OP
S & F from me : )

Edit - Im not sure of the exact length of "Death im sure it wasnt a full day ,but i cant quote a time as i cant remember" , im having trouble finding the video too if anybody else has seen it or knows what i am on about i would greatly appreciate a link.

Megatron....
Sorry, am in a weird mood today...

What a lovely story, I really hope that they can perfect it so the survival rate can increase from just 1 in 9. Little Ella is a miracle of medical science.

I wonder where this babies soul was this whole time it was dead/frozen?

Years ago I asked someone on ATS what they thought would happen when technology finally allows us to freeze dead people for hundreds of years until they can be cured and revived. Is their "soul" in heaven then ripped out and thrown back to earth? This person said we'll never be able to do it, so it doesn't matter. I think they are wrong.

I think after a day or so, your body is up for grabs by the spirit who can get in there the fastest.
