"Republican Budget Cuts Will Destroy 700,000 Jobs"

Funny how you who love the repubs and voted int he people who create all the debt are all for shoveling barrels full of cash into Halliburton and like, but can't stand to see a dollar go to the average worker.

Repubs created $12T in U.S. gov debt, giving all the money to the fat cats, and the same people who supported this want to give rims to the same fat cats and wipe their mouths with our constitution.

Like them or not, government jobs are JOBS and anyone who has one in this economy, should consider themselves to be incredibly lucky.

Why would anyone want to cut such jobs? Only a total #ing idiot would do such a thing and guess what? We've elected plenty of these fools.

So, if you're one of those "smaller-gov't" folks, enjoy the taste of foot when you find yourself in an unemployment line down the road, regardless of which party is in power, etc.

The Governor's have cut taxes for the rich, such as in New Jersey and Wisconsin and when they do that the deficit rises then they cut programs accordingly.

Interestingly, every time taxes are cut for the rich in this country the economy goes bad. That's because revenues are lost and the rich merely take their tax cuts and invest in exotic overseas stuff and not the American economy.


The reason why revenues in the states are down primarily is because of the lower tax base because people are unemployed and therefore are not paying taxes. That in addition to the tax cuts for the rich is the problem.

Exactly.

American politics works in a predictable cycle: Republicans mess up the economy, people vote in Democrats, Democrats don't perform the way the people like, Republicans get back into power, etc, etc. Lather, rinse and repeat.

The average American has no patience and expects a president to reverse 8 years of fiscal mismanagement in a 4 year term. Good luck.

I most wholeheartedly agree! Cutting the fat from government would have been the first thing I would have done. The federal government is already the largest employer in the world, and it really needs to be a great deal smaller. Like the Speaker said about it: "so be it."

This is like lamenting reducing federal welfare roles.

The truth is that is nothing but propaganda, actually since before the economic downfall American was losing jobs already, after the economic downfall we lose more and none of the jobs lose has been recuperated again.

Telling that 700,000 jobs could be lost is a joke because since the so call economic stimulus and the last congress economic act we have lost 14,000,000 jobs that has never been recuperated yet.

Don't let the corrupted politicians and big mouths lie with numbers, they are getting desperate because after lying and stealing from the tax payer to pay themselves and their pimps in corporate America they have done nothing to fix Americas problems.

Not likely. Things have turned even worse since 2006 when I was laid off. I have applied to over 35,000 jobs since then, had over 100 interviews, and am competing with 20- and 30-somethings.

It just seems to me we should be cutting war spending LONG before we cut jobs. If the jobs are "unnecessary," don't refill them as people leave, retire or pass. But don't keep handing billions to the Haliburtons and yank the means to maintain one's life from over half a million people first!

In the "The Day -- Moby and MoveOn Protest Budget Cuts on the Poor", the artist explains why he joined over 30,000 Americans in a fast to protest against the budget cuts that could disproportionately hurt the most vulnerable in America.

The effort comes as the President and Republicans in Congress agreed to a budget that could severely impact the lives of the poor. Republicans are preparing even steeper cuts in their upcoming 2012 budget, including a proposal that would hand Medicare over to the insurance companies. The Republican 2012 budget is expected to come up for a vote in the House by the end of this week.

The fast was first launched by Reverend Jim Wallis of the Sojournors, and Ambassador Tony Hall. As word spread, more than 30,000 Americans joined thefast, as well as 28 members of Congress.
