ZAWIYA, Libya -- Hundreds of armed anti-government forces backed by rebel troops who control the city closest to the capital Tripoli appeared to be readying Sunday to repel an expected offensive by forces loyal to Moammar Gadhafi who have surrounded Zawiya.

from the op's source.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the U.S. was "reaching out to many different Libyans who are attempting to organize in the east and as the revolution moves westward there as well." Two U.S. senators said Washington should recognize and arm a provisional government in rebel-held areas of eastern Libya and impose a no-fly zone over the area -- enforced by U.S. warplanes -- to stop attacks by the regime.

I can see the US using a no fly zone to protect the protesters from mass murder but neither Hillary nor any US representative should be reaching out to either side in Libya.

Exactly my sentiments rearding Libya. I think we need to stop being the enforcer and start realizing that we can't bully people and the rrebels and freedom fighters know what the consequences are when this rebellion started and they should fight for it and not have us hand it to them. I personally believe it'll make them savor the victory better.

One of the problems is that many of the advanced weapons used on protesters were made in the USA, given in exchange for Libya abandoning its nuclear program. So in a way the US acting at arms length to arm the citizenry and/or enforce a no-fly zone would reverse the power given the regime already. Obviously though the US should limit its involvement i.e. not put any foreigners on the ground.

I still think the US should completely stay out of any civil war, whether a no fly zone or not.
You cannot win anything but angst when you get into a family fight.
As if we didn't know this already, but it looks like another generation of US boys into the new sausage grinder.

"those who wish to kill will be killed"

Any government who does not stand down to the peaceful resistance of it's people will be crushed. Watch Libya and learn.

"Those who desire freedom, will be free."

No government can seal that which has been unsealed.

"Those who love, will be loved."

It is not about Libyans, Egyptians, Chinese, or any other nation. This is the rise of Man.

Watch.

With Love,

Your Brother
