Haha, indeed! We managed to conquer 1/4 of the world on a shoestring and always have looked for the "cheap" option. It's what we're famous for.

The Falklands was won with a mothballed aircraft carrier refitted en route, aging escorts that weren't up to the task and soldiers transported on cruise liners like the QE2..

Stuff liek that makes you proud. Imagine what we could do if we had money!

The UK once again sticking its nose in another counries affairs.

As with regards to the Falklands it ws the men onthe ground whom won that war,not ships or technology or weapns. Sheer grit from well trained troops. If it was not for them the UK would ave lost that war.

There is a World of difference between liberating the Falkland Islands and Invading a foreign land because of oil.

Is it really in my best interests to invade a country if there is a whiff of a problem regarding the flow of oil? Surely if you are trading with countries that are unstable then you have to factor in this risk.

Can you believe the U.K was the only country to produce oil and become far poorer for it?

I have never understood this. Maybe I missed something, who knows.

I was responding to your post;

Lets hope the UK population, come out more strongly against it then this time, than previously leading up to the Iraq invasion.

I pointed out that you were wrong because we did indeed show our support as a nation against the war, quite strongly and moreso than any other, contrary to what your view that we did little to nothing. I also stated that such protests achieve nothing only for you to then tell me they achieve nothing? But you then expect a protest this time round will magically achieve something while saying they achieve nothing? I don't thing you know whether you're coming or going.

Other than that I agree with you. We shouldn't go sticking our noses in just becasue it suits our interests, those interests primarily being oil.

I see the rhetoric coming out of Europe is heating up.

Sky News rolling banner states that Tony Blair has warned Gadaffi that it is "his last chance to resolve the situation peacefully" and E.U Leaders are "concerned about the brutallity of the situation".

Looks more and more likely that unless Gadaffi gets out of "Dodge", then NATO will go in.

What I was referring to,more than 2 million people comming out strongly, against any involvement in Lybia. The population of the UK is 60 million. If a bigger protest was carried out the Government would then have to listen. I do not mean 2 million,Imean 10 or 15million people,protesting against any UK invovlement in Lybia.

It's an interesting thought and if it meant the rest of the world seeing just how hypocritical the UK government is when it comes to democratic protests it might just be worth it.
