I know, i know, this is the WRONG forum (ATS) to discuss such things. But with all that is going on in the world, conspiracy or not, it's always nice to look on the bright side of things...I purchased a hour in WV a few years back and had to relocate to the Twin Cities for NWA/Delta.It turned my life upside down. In fact we are still trying to sell our home in WV after it's been on the market for 13 months (and hopefully going to settlement this weekend). It's destroyed me and the wife's credit. Was it a good decision to move out here to the Twin cities? Absolutely!

It's not all bad at all.

I can't watch the news anymore. It's depressing and seems hyped because of ratings. Bills are getting harder to pay. Daily expenses seem to become more of an issue every year. The F'n weather in the Twin cities is NUTS and these people talk kinda funny.

It's really not that bad.

I've noticed a few years ago, people my age NEVER discussed money. Even if they were flat broke they kept it to themselves. In recent years more and more friends and family openly admit "I cannot afford this," or "i'll have to wait until I get paid again." I've spent my entire adult life on a budget, and hearing these things make me realize we are all in the same boat. What makes it worth it is spending the time with these family and friends. Which is free...and I feel that people are finally realizing this.

It's pretty damn awesome!

Just got back from a two day trip to San Antonio Texas. 75 degrees, no humidity, complete heaven. The wife and I spent two days sitting on the Riverwalk, sipping cocktails, and barely saying a word to one-another. It was like a hug from sweet baby Jesus. It dawned on me, right then and there...That things are not all bad. People need to relax and try and enjoy life as much as possible. The simple things.


I basically just ranted out some bizzare poem...for that I apologize. As much as charlie foxtrot as thing have been recently, have any of you started to appreciate the small things in life?

Thanx for your "rant" if thats what you wanna call it. one of the few "rants" i have enjoyed.and to answer your question yes i do enjoy the little things in life always have and always will because where i'm from thats all we have the small things.to me nothings better than watching the sun go down on the front pourch with my wife,watching my little girl play in the front yard. if everybody would just slow down to a country pace and enjoy the small thing then everybody would see that it not all that bad

The "Slow Down," movement. Now that I live in a big city, it's always rush rush rush.
It's still very near and dear to my heart to do some high quality "porch-sittin."
Put down the Iphone, turn off the CNN/Evil Fox news. Just enjoy the F'n day and try to smile for gods sake

I live on the near west side of Chicago.

Yes is is ridiculously expensive, the traffic is constantly gridlocked,

But it is also very scenic, very beautiful, and there is no shortage of things to do and new people to meet.

And beach beach beach! Some of the greatest beaches in the world are here - shhhh...... it's a secret

Of course we are quite a bit warmer than MN here; weather not so extreme.

Still, Urban Living is sim everywhere and I think if you give it a chance you will get to like it!

I love Urban Living too - love to be able to get up and go, do whatever you want, access to all kinds of things, people, cultures - LOVE IT!

You can carve out your own "niche" too, in urban settings. Here you can be everything from a hippie, to a yuppie, to a flamboyant entertainer of any genre, Joe Six Pack, Fashion Designer, *anything* YOU want! It's great!

The Twin Cities have MANY great things to offer - TAKE ADVANTAGE! Get out and do things! The entire Great Lakes area also is one of *the most* scenic spots on earth too - huge tourism - you live here? TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!

I WELCOME YOU, NEW RESIDENT AND FAMILY!

You will come to LOVE it here! US Great Lakes Region = GREATEST PLACE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!!!

You've got "city" and "country", everything from fishing to opera, MAGNIFICENT scenery! "The Third Coast", Outdoor stuff the such that Mecca is made of, Fine Dining to Punk Rock, NASCAR to Antique Maserattis, this is *THE PLACE*.

Whole area is just MONDO AWESOME! Something for everyone and most people get along and are friendly and open minded too.

Other than the weird midwestern accents (they accuse me of sounding like Larry the cable guy, ahahaha) and their poor driving ability, the Midwest is where it's at! The best damn decision we ever made was to come out here! We drove through Chicago on our way out here and I can't wait to go back. What a light show that city is at night!

It's easy to forget how much there is to despise in the swaggering arrogant smugness and unwarrrented smirkiness that frothy economic bubbles produce. Materialism -- even just the futute promise of materialism, if none happens to be available at the moment, or the trashy indulgencies and yearnings of poseurs -- has a horrible corrosive effect on the soul, and that's well worth remembering.

Wouldn't it be great if somehow society and culture could strike a more enduring balance between crass exuberance and sweaty panic-stricken poverty?
