Could Mabus be Abu Musa, the Island in dispute between Iran and the United Arab Emirates? Its demise could be the beginning of the destruction of people and animals due to the environmental concerns associated with the Persian Gulf Island. (i.e the oil reserves situated there)

I am also wondering if Gadhafi could be Mabus. Gadhafi's full name, according to Wikipedia is Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi. I do not know of any nicknames that amount to Mabus though. There is a "B" in his name, but it doesn't fit as an initial or anything like that. There is no "S" in his name.
