After several missions and succesfully surveying the entire celestial sky at four different wavelengths, since it's launch in Dember of 2009, the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) has now been put into hibernation. The vast amount of data that has been collected during those missions and surveys will now be analyzed. One of the goals of analyzing this data is to confirm or rule out the existence of the hypothetical planet Tyche (aka Nemesis). The full analysis of the data will be released to the public around April 2011.

Here you can find an article + interview on the matter:

Oh yes, and this will all be 100% factual won't it? Seeing's how WISE is a NASA run and operated mission. They always tell the truth don't they? Well not really, but their pictures are always real aren't they? Well no, they doctor those too. Oh yeah! hey they are always full of sh!t aren't they? bingo!

Can WISE Find the Hypothetical 'Tyche' Planet at Edge of Our Solar System?

WISE is a NASA mission, launched in December 2009, which scanned the entire celestial sky at four infrared wavelengths about 1.5 times. It captured more than 2.7 million images of objects in space, ranging from faraway galaxies to asteroids and comets relatively close to Earth.

Following its successful survey, WISE was put into hibernation in February 2011. Analysis of WISE data continues. A preliminary public release of the first 14 weeks of data is planned for April 2011, and the final release of the full survey is planned for March 2012.

So they will have had 16 months to make up whatever pictures they are going to release to the public, and it's 'conclusive data'. Also it merely says 'data' from the fist 14 weeks will be released in April of this years. It says nothing about what that date will be (ie. text, photo, video). You can bet for darn sure it won't be the first 14 weeks of the 2.7 million photo's that were taken.

Just assume that they have found this planet out there, at the edge of our solar system. Why, and I'm not asking this in a sarcastic way, I'd just really like to understand why you would think this, why would they hide it from us? What could be the reason, what are they trying to hide?

What is it with some people's gnawing idea that we can't trust what NASA says? Really.

Looking forward to many exciting discoveries from WISE data (and hopefully more videos from Amy Mainzer
)
