I´m sorry but, if that satellite were 20 kms away, we wouldn´t be able to see the whole planet..... must be a really lot further away than that.

It's 20k miles. That's 20 thousand miles, 20,000.

*This* is also freaking amazing! You *know* things, like the earth moves on it's axis, but actually *seeing* it is incredible! Thanks OP for turning us, that had no clue it existed, on to this satellite.

Oddly enough I think it bears a striking resemblance to a High Altitude Nuclear Explosion (outlawed through the Outer space treaty of 1967) You can check some declassified vids of this by searching Operation Hardtack (teak and Orange). If we(and by we I mean earthlings) are doing H.A.N.E. tests in space, strictly forbidden, I wonder why?! hmmm...... The Outer space Treaty is also a very interesting read as it did not outlaw the placement of "Conventional weapons" in space but it did outlaw nuclear devices.

Well it seemed odd to me that the curves in the ripples are exactly the same size and shape as the sunlit side of the earth, and when you look closer, the perpendicular lines in the sunlit side also exactly match ones in the ripples. I think that this is some kind of reflection that the light is having on the camera.

As too the video of the moon. If you watch that video a few times, you'll notice that the satelite is inside the orbit of the moon. That is why you only see it go behind the earth and then come back out the other side and disapear...because it is going behind the sat to complete its course.

I still can't get over how small it is.

Its not a shockwave.. What your actually seeing is gravitational lensing. Due to the dense core of the earth, it holds more mass and can be seen while in front of the sun. the reason you can see the stars behind the sun and the Earth is because the gravity is so intense. it warps the light around the planet so you can see around it. but it gives some visibility to the inner workings of the Earth. Good shot.. Very good

Look closely.. you can see the core, the inner magma, the outer magma, and the crust!!
