I think everyone is missing the point or over reacting.

The person did something no sane producer would do ... He miss represented himself and his filming to place children in a sexual situation against their parents knowledge. When you film an actor like this you use a 'nudity rider' form or a similar sex act contract. The contact explicitly states what acts will occur to protect the while production. The rules for this are twice as strict for children. I also get the impression he did not state the video was fiction.

There have been cases even when rules have been followed of children being bullied and victimised for being in funny adverts etc ... So what this person did is pretty serious. Man boy and Ashton's nonsense is not the same league.

Those were people with legal consent. (probably fifty odd pages of it)

On one hand this was really dumb and wrong. On the other it is the equivalent of reckless driving on a bicycle - no judge in their right mind would give a maximum penalty. (one did in queensland and got fired actually)

The law is always setting precedents and such. This case will be no different. What he did has to be taken seriously due to how the law works. If anyone could video your child and cut them into a sex scene under the guise of humour it could get bad pretty quickly.

I think it is an insult to justice that such a case even gets before the judge as a criminal case. Its just a prank.

“but also has a provision for those who make it appear that the children were actually abused.”

Up to 20 years sentence for this is definately way overblown in any case.
And it should be legal to posess and manufacture "CP" in which its clear that no real children were harmed (for example virtual reality CP) because thats why CP is banned - it harms children during manufacture. Or at worst it should be considered as inciting others to illlegal behaviour and prosecuted as such. But singing sexual lyrics to children in edited comedy video is definately not the case.

This is ridiculous. While I will be the first to protect (even over protect) our kids from all the sicko's out there, This is absolutely a waste of time, tax payer's money, and yes a violation of First amendment rights. I don't get it, a child molester gets less time than a drug user/buyer/addict, yet the state wants to stick it to some guy who was just being creative. Especially when no children where even present?!? I don't think this guy "wasn't using his head" as one member posted, this is just some politicians way of spending more of our money and trying to get their name out there.

If this was child porn/endangerment, then I would be the first in line to castrate. Someone should take a look at TODDLERS & TIARAS.......WTF!!!

One person's comedy is another person's porn.

Nothing new here. It's the 21st century version of the Lenny Bruce farces....err....trials.

Stupid then....stupid now.

And we continue marching on but never getting anywhere....
