alright so i saw all these threads bashing people for bashing atheism. most of em saying that most people don't understand people that don't believe in God, but i actually find christians to be in the minority... let me emphasis real christians to be in the minority.

so considering i've come to believe that what most "christians" call christianity is not christianity at all i would like people to ask me what the beef is with the moral and virtuous beliefs that are what true christianity stands for.

for this discussion i ask that you only provide scriptural reference to the problem that you are having with what the Bible teaches. i will be more than glad to accept any hateful remarks and untasteful responses. the only thing i ask for is respect and honesty.

with that being said, let the games begin!

Okay, I have a question for you.

The bible teaches that the earth is somewhere around 6000 years old. Yet carbon dating can prove for example that the dinosaurs roamed the earth over 265 millions years ago.

Please explain.

What is "true Christianity"? Have you found out what to take literal and what is metaphorical in the Bible? And what makes your non-authoritative interpretation of the Scriptures any truer than anyone else's on ATS? Are you a priest? A monk? Your interpretation of the Bible is just as true as an atheist's interpretation of the Bible. By this mean, if you are a true Christian, you would not have made this thread.

If you are not a priest or a monk or a theologian (with a degree), then what gives you the right to answer such questions about the Bible?

because i realize the truth. the pulpit has lied to the masses for years.

christianity is the love of your neighbor and the self-sacrifice that makes the world a better place.

i am a true christian because even if i had only one shirt i would give it to you

well spoken, though i have nothing to really CONTRIBUTE to this thread right now, as i think people can believe what they want, i have known only a few "real" christians as you say, and i have to concur, that they are less openly about god and more about helping people and just generally being good people!

good for you!

no my kind sir. man teaches the earth is only 6000 years old. the bible teaches you not to question God and not to worry about things of which are not of your concern.

man has taught that they can guesstimate the age of the earth by adding together all the ages .... BS.

the bible never not once stated that the earth was created in 3000 something B.C. it only states the earth was created in six days and a day = a year.

do i understand how 6 yr. creation is true? no. but i also don't understand how you can't create a true single matter atom. for some odd reason the smallest creation you can make has about 306 (not real sure on the exact number but i can find out) atoms.

edit to add:
carbon dating has also been known to be fraudulent. try laser dating that is far more accurate. come back with that seeing as how i have never done research on that subject and i would be highly excited of your findings... especially since i personally would love to know how long ago Adam walked this earth.

i never stated i gave up on the church... i truly believe the evil forces of this world of deception are hiding many things from us.

considering matters of faith are simply spiritual matter(i.e. conscience, voices of the head) the world has been listening to the wrong voices.

the pulpit does not teach you that money is absolute BS. that the only thing that matters is to be kind, loving, generous, caring and giving.(i know this because jesus died for me)

OK what’s it mean if you witness a golden hand or hand of god appear above you.
And is it a common occurrence?

reference please. im not familiar with this theory.

to give my understanding i will say this: by having the hand of God above you would refer to having his works understood by the person whom has the hand of God above him..

i can't give any real insight on this comment as i have no prior knowledge of what is being asked.

Nice, so we're not even two sentences in and you're committing a no true Scotsman fallacy.

Scriptural references eh? Alrighty then, how about this verse right here:

20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.

Source

Why is a supposedly Holy book giving tips on how hard people are allowed to beat their slaves?

Yeah I’m sorry, no one seems to be able to help me on this.
Never mind maybe the answer will pop up unexpectedly one day.
Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

your reference is to the old testament. a narrative of those who turned their back on God.

but to this i say that all people were created to serve their purpose.

i am created and i believe my purpose is to love all, and to show love so that others may see my example and follow.

a servant who is born to be a servant will by no means change things by being rebellious. if you were born a slave die a slave.

now if you can change things while still doing that which you were supposed to do then by all means be my guest.

but if you are being rebellious for the sake of being rebellious there is no positive effects of said action.

no slave changed the fact that slavery was abolished.

Being a christian to me is simply two things: To love your brother (anyone) as you love yourself, and to accept jesus into your heart, and to know and admit that He came to earth to die for our sins.

Well I was going about the daily house work, picking up kids cloths tidying up, when I was in our main bedroom making our bed. Then I had a feeling of comfort and a very spiritual energy in the room. I looked up and wow it was so tranquil it was a hand coming down from the roof its palm open and it glowed a golden colour it coming closer only to stop at the elbow.

Now I’ve been looking for information about a golden hand for a while and coming up blank. Then i read on ATS somewhere and they mentioned the hand of god. I was like I wonder if this is the same hand that I saw.

a star for you my friend, but always remember Jesus is God and God is all that he is meaning the two great commandments are one and the same.
