Might be nice to have such a super power and with so many toys to bully around anyone you like . Best part of it is the people who really didn't authorize that stuff are the ones stuck with the bill.

Being a Brit and not fully engaged with U S Politics, can anybody advise if Ron Paul is the only politician to speak as he finds. This man certainly seems to have the gall to question what is going on and stand up for the cittizens.

It's a shame we don't have anybody like him in U k Politics. The nearest U K Politician we had was Tony Benn and although he still around he is now a commentator and no longer an elected member.

We need more Ron Pauls imo.

There's nobody like Ron Paul on the scene, even his own son disagrees with him on some matters. I'm sympathetic with the idea that RP should run for 2012 US elections but I don't think that can happen and most importantly, he is disappointed with US congress much more than he is in POTUS. He would like to see congress abolishing the fed but he knows that entire congress is owned by the wall street by now. He thinks that the best thing he can do is talk sense into people instead of sitting in an oval office. In his mind *the people* still have the power to prevent corporate-bribed federal government from expanding its corrupt roots....
But as long as people's bellies are full they don't mind whats in there heads, its always been that way from ancient times.

...And he is right to do so. Supporting a semi-dictator doesn't win you many friends, and over time a reaction will happen. The anger is focused away from the U.S. because it seems we decided to let them choose their own government for now. Only time will tell whether we had a hand in this or not, but I can't say I'm sorry to see Mubarak go.

RP's desire to put a reasonably peaceful end to the US Empire is the best thing he has going for him.

I've always gotten a big kick out of "we have to intervene in [insert country name here] because of National Security! when "National Security" really means "International corporations that own us security".

If the US hadn't been spending the last half century mucking around in places we have no business, propping up multi-national corps, we would not be in the mess we are in now.

Bullseye!!!! The problem is we can't do anything about it. Corporations own most of our politicians...and despite what they say...they promote the OUTSOURCING of American jobs. Taxes could be cut to zero and we still couldn't compete with slave labor unless we become slave laborers ourselves and destroy our standard of living....which by the way is happening because nothing is being done about our trade laws.

you'll never see this on any of the major networks. The weakening of the unions since Reagan...AND THEY ARE WEAKER no matter what is said by Fox News and Conservatives and some Liberals...has resulted in the destruction of our trade laws and tariffs on imports.

Unions were one of the few entities that fought to keep tariffs on imports to maintain their wages.

Nigel LaFarge is a Euro skeptic, but a conservative with a capital C at heart.

He doesn't really care about the British people, just the amount of money we pay in taxes to keep the European quango going.

UKIP is a deritive of the Conservative party very similar to the Boston Tea Party some Republicans have formed. The majority of conservatives are anti European because they follow a socialist agenda. I agree with him to a certain extent. The European commision is a non elected body made up of former politicians of member countries. The fact that it is non elected says it all really, although LaFarge is an elected European Member of Parliament, so at least has some credence.

The technology for creating-stoking these cyber based uprisings is being exposed and discussed at length so RP is likely not far off in his assessment.

Its Nigel Farage, and caring about the taxes is caring about the people, because it is their money being spent. Other than that I agree with you, except maybe on them having a socialist agenda, because the EU is socialist and they're against it...

Apologies, you are right it is Farage. I realised that last night when I watched Question Time.

I did refer to the E.U as having a Socialist agenda, not UKIP. Please read my post again. UKIP are a deritive of the Conservatives. Unfortunately Farage doesn't have the answers to the U.K's problems. He just blames the E.U for everything despite the problems originating from the U.K.

Ah makes more sense now but it could be read either way. Although UKIP might not have all the answers, if I were in Britain I would vote for them. No political party matches all of my beliefs anyway, at least he is willing to be vocal about the fact the EU isn't helping anyone and like you mentioned they are a body of unelected wanna be tyrants.
