Possible Extraterrestrial Alien Signal Received Says, NASA

www.ufo-blogger.com

Last year we reported that Ragbir Bhathal an award winning author and astrophysicist, who carries out research in Australian science studies, physics and astronomy at the University of Western Sydney Macarthur. Had discovered a Alien Laser Signal coming from Gliese 581 star system planet Gliese 581 E in December 2008 . Gliese 581 E alien laser signal is now know as "Ragbir Bhathal Gliese Alien Signal".

A search for these signals is ongoing by several groups including volunteer members of the SETI League. Time labels the vertical axis of the above plot, and frequency marks the horizontal axis. Although this strong signal was never positively identified, astronomers have identified in it many attributes characteristic of a more mundane and ultimately terrestrial origin

I'm 100% sure there are millions if not billions of Technological Cultures in the Universe.

The Drake Equation minimalizes it but makes it clear we cannot possibly be alone.

The shear size and scope of the Universe and the odds of humans finding a verifiable signal in the 50 or so years we've been looking is small.

We only get to look at tiny little sections of the sky at a time.
Then there's the distance...We could be pointing an array in exactly the right part of the sky where a civilization could have risen, sent out tens of thousands of years of "signals" but...we haven't gotten them yet simply because those signals haven't reached us.

Scientists have basically stated that radio signals (such as our own from Earth) don't have the power to reach interstellar distances, not to mention the background radiation of the universe alone would probably overwhelm any electromagnetic signals.
Interstellar propagation of electromagnetic signals
By Henning F. Harmuth, Konstantin A. Lukin

As much as any of us would like to think we could receive radio communication from another planet, I just don't think it's possible. It would have to come from a source much closer and much stronger. The text from Nasa seems to admit the "leading possibility" for the signal came from a GPS satellite than another world.

Explanation: No one knows for sure what caused this signal. There is a slight possibility that it just might originate from an extraterrestrial intelligence. The bright colors on the blue background indicate that an anomalous signal was received here on Earth by a radio telescope involved in a Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). A search for these signals is ongoing by several groups including volunteer members of the SETI League. Time labels the vertical axis of the above plot, and frequency marks the horizontal axis. Although this strong signal was never positively identified, astronomers have identified in it many attributes characteristic of a more mundane and ultimately terrestrial origin. In this case, a leading possibility is that the signal originates from an unusual modulation between a GPS satellite and an unidentified Earth-based source. Many unusual signals from space remain unidentified. No signal has yet been strong enough or run long enough to be unambiguously identified as originating from an extraterrestrial intelligence.

I agree that Drake makes it clear that we SHOULD not be alone. The large number of Earth-like planets that have been found emphasizes it all the more, which makes the Fermi Paradox all the more troubling. I'm not sure what to make of it, though I tend toward the opinion that practical interstellar travel is unfeasible, so we're stuck on our own little islands, and within such a closed system, civilizations simply don't last.

As for the find in the article, it's interesting, but note the words "slight possibility" and conclusions already drawn by astronomers that a mundane explanation is reasonable. I agree that it's unreasonable to assume that signals aren't out there, based on existing scans, but in this case, I would guess that they've rescanned that section without finding anything, which points to the mundane, terrestrial explanation.

It's frustrating to know that we might not even recognize an extra-terrestrial signal. SETI has come up with a protocol of what an ET-signal should look like, but what if they're wrong, what if they're scanning at the wrong wavelenghts, searching for the wrong signs. It seems logical that an intelligent ET species goes through a similar technological evolution as we have been through, using appliances that send out electromagnetic radiation into space, just as ours do. But what if the planets they're scanning or have scanned do contain intelligent ET's, however these ET's have not yet evolved to the level to have that kind of technology, or maybe they are actually much further evolved and use different technological appliances. We should keep in mind that there might very well be many intelligent ET civilizations living around us (in the Milky Way) but that doesn't mean that they're at the same level as us, evolutionary or technologically.

So absence of evidence in this case might not be evidence of absence.

Dr.Carl Sagan Co-founder of SETI was a duplicious liar, and made it his personal mission to debunk the UFO reality, probably because, as he puts it, his funding, and as I put it, his comfortable tax dollar funded lifestyle, demanded it.

Mmmm... I believe the title is a TAD misleading.
And "Astronomy Picture of the Day" doesn't quite ring like a news source.
It's just a "click"...
When we receive a real signal IT'S GOING TO BE QUITE CLEAR:::::
