There was a thread about it on here a few days ago. I stopped following it, so I'm not sure what the popular opinion on it was, though. The data, as far as I know, is at least superficially accurate, but it's probably open to interpretation like anything else.
I'm just keeping it in mind, just in case.

Someone gag CLP please!

I really like your thinking though. Scary connections!

Someone's gotta do it, I guess
I'm just a guy who loves to connect his dots.
It is kinda unnerving.

These sound like Mud Volcanos.
en.wikipedia.org...

With a mud that is highly carbonatus being driven to the surface by methane you would have what is being described.

Considering the smell... I wonder if it's possible that it contains sulfur, being possibly related with the local seismic activity and whatnot.

I agree with this. I've worked with sulphur in the past and it stinks like a**. I had to soak all my glassware in bleach for a week in the back of my fumehood before the smell was mostly gone and my hands smelt horrible for days. I make it my mission to avoid sulphur chemistry these days.

It could be a geothermal area similar to Yellowstone National Park or Rotorua in NZ. I don't know much about Yellowstone, but I know that Rotorua is full of stinking, boiling mud pools. Just speculations though.

great work going on on this thread!

Just for clarification, the Deccan Traps are believed to be caused by a large mantle plume during the late Cretaceous period. The mantle plume believed to have caused these mountain ranges, is now held to be somewhere in Africa. When a major undersea or land volcano occurred, it caused major lava flow which is the Basalt flood. The lava cooled to form Basalt, a volcanic rock, there is also Dolorite found there which is equivelant to volcanic Basalt.

Magma also contains dissolved gases such as sulphur dioxide and could be responsible for the smell reported from the ''lava like substance''.

not so sure about mud volcanoes as the substance reported is referred to as ''lava like'' and it caused burning of grass and destruction of a cement structure.

hmmm inorganic?....surely anything coming from beneath the ground should have carbon? no? just a thought.

Nah...cant be that simple. Generally they dont have Sewer pipes in villages. Most of them use 'Septic Tanks'.
I would love to believe the disturbance in the earth's crust due to quakes in the neighboring regions within the country and outside.

I think our maps will need some revision.

Well with the shift in poles every year, it will have to change dramatically

Only the very rich there have toilets..Didn't you see the movie "Eat My $hit" its for download at demoinoid...They just piss and # anywhere they want to.....They are learning though that they need to use a dump or some place to put it instead of having it all over the place for children, dogs pets, people to walk all in and for it to run in their creeks and ponds and rivers too.
You dont sound very educated. Your comments are like your thoughts. Very very ignorant. Please do keep up this attitude and you're guaranteed to go down the toilet that you're so proud of wherever you live

Last night I saw this post and decided to do some digging.

While yes indeed there are some similarities between the two, we still run into a lot of problems.

I was looking up mud volcano locations around India and I can't find anything. The closest mud volcanoes I can find were in the Andaman Islands quite far away.

So if this did indeed turn out to be mud volcanoes (or anything else like it), we will be looking at an entirely new location for such a phenomena to occur.

Whatever it is that is causing this, it is a new event in a location that was not suspected to have such events pop up as far as I can determine based on all of the sources I have looked through.

It is definitely a significant and unexpected event.

I don't think we will know for absolute sure what exactly is going on there until we get a detailed chemical analysis report on the material gathered at the site. Hopefully this will happen asap, and the information will be made available to us.

I do find that an interesting theory and I have seen several YouTube documentaries on the topic, some of them rather scientific and well researched.

I am pretty confident that it will be an extremely difficult hypothesis to disprove. There are so many aspects of it that make sense and explain things we previously had trouble explaining with our basic "plate" theories.

I am not ready to say expanding Earth is for sure happening, but it is on the table still and well worth consideration.

I realize some aspects of the theory will need to be addressed and that some parts are difficult to understand, but that does not mean it is not the case. It could take a long time to prove or disprove this hypothesis as we are talking about vast geological time scales.

Hopefully we will find something conclusive that leads us either way on that issue. Thanks for the link btw.

Not true. There are a lot of inorganic materials found in and beneath the Earth's crust. Some transition metals, lanthanides, etc. may coordinate a carbon ligand, but it is still classed as inorganic.

Great find! I definitely think we should keep an eye on this story... also any other locations that may be experiencing the same changes.

good thing it did not came out of a toilet while somebody's using it, otherwise, people could have been hurt!
