It appears that Space X has got some competition from the big boys now. EADS Astrium (Europe) and Alliant Technology announce the 'Liberty' rocket.

Its a hybrid of the solid rocket stack developed for constellation and part of the Ariane V. Of course they could just use the already developed
Ariane V but that would have insufficient pork content....gotta love politics.
