DELANO, CALIF.—A man attending a cockfight has died after being stabbed in the leg by a bird that had a knife attached to its limb.

The Kern County coroner says 35-year-old Jose Luis Ochoa was declared dead at a hospital about two hours after he suffered the injury on Jan. 30.

An autopsy concluded Ochoa died of an accidental "sharp force injury" to his right calf.

Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt says it's unclear if a delay in seeking medical attention contributed to Ochoa's death.

Considering the apparent delay between suffering the fatal leg-wound and seeking medical treatment I wonder how someone does not notice they are bleeding to death? I imagine there was probably a lot of alcohol involved.

I'd nominate this guy for a Darwin award, but maybe we should give it to this ninja rooster for mastering the blade?

I think this is the first I've heard of somebody dieing from being stabbed in the leg in modern times. Especially in the calf, not even one of the big veins in the thigh.

That's what you get for arming a chicken. To purposely make animal fights is cruel and he should have known that and didn't care.

Here is a pic of what he was probably stabbed with. You have to think these places are probably filthy and there could have been a number of nasty things on the blade including feces and chicken blood on the blade when he was injured.

For sure, but I don't think it's possible an infection could kill someone in 2 hours? I still blame the booze, and karma of course.
