There is NOTHING wonderful/beautiful about mother nature

Is this guy serious? I'm thinking "troll", but in any case it still elicits a response....

This guy doesn't like the planet because he thinks the way it behaves is ugly?
This has happened for BILLIONS of years, and will happen for BILLIONS more barring some unfortunate disaster.
Perhaps in line for his next life, in the "would like" section he could pencil in that he'd prefer to live on a temperature controlled planet with no dirt, eat by photosynthesis, and all the life forms on the planet would be friendly, fluffy, and oh-so huggable.

Me? I think this rock is awesome!

You're right about one thing: Nature doesn't care what you think.
Nature is and has always been and we are but a product of it.
If you think nature is cruel take a look at mankind (what an oxymoron that is!)
Animals rarely kill anything they're not going to eat while some humans kill for pleasure.

Nature seems cruel to you because you don't understand it's workings and perceive it through a human sense of time.
The creative process itself must necessarily begin with destruction - to create something you must have some materials to work with.
Volcanoes are initially destructive but after a few years the soil is enriched beyond belief and new plant propagation soars. But this takes years, decades even and our perception of time doesn't allow us to see the creative processes occurring. Yet hundreds of years after a volcanic eruption the forest is even more healthy than before the eruption took place.

Try to see nature with no preconceived notions of "good" or "bad" - they don't exist out there. These are all human ideas of behavior that we try to make nature conform to.
Nature's beauty (to me) is how it fills every vacuum, allowing no waste. What you feel is a cruel event when the lion kills a zebra does far more than feed the lion and her cubs - it feeds the vultures, hyenas, jackals and a host of insects that otherwise cannot survive.
Every animal species is essential for the processes of life to continue and each species is a link that helps other species to survive. They all survive together, not separately. Would the oak forest grow were it not for the acorns buried but forgotten by the squirrels the year before?
Until you can clear your mind of preconceived notions you will never understand or appreciate the beauty of nature around you and that is saddening.
To me it has been the greatest gift of my whole life - to feel and see the workings of the creative spirit (God if you will) in each and every living being.
Every animal, every plant, every bug matters, just as we people matter too, each and every one of us.

we have become so far detached from the natural world with our modern ways of living some feel they no longer belong in nature, which is crazy as we are animals just like the chimps and elephants and belong in nature not removed from it. Ofcourse nature can be brutal, be we are nature, lets not forget that.

However, when you put down the rose tinted glasses and look at the real side of nature, you see animals as wonderful and intelligent as they are, killing each other constantly, i cant bear to watch programs which show a lion chasing an innocent zebra or something and killing it for food, or things like that.

But the guilty zebras, they are fair game then? Should they wear striped prison suits to identify themselves as guilty zebras? Oh wait they do, therefore all zebras are guilty (No straw man comments please )

If you compare the `beauty` of mother nature to the negative aspects, the negative aspects outride it 10 to 1, almost to the point of where if you look at the facts, its almost like mother nature doesnt welcome or want anyone on earth.

This is of course your opinion since not everyone sees these negative aspects. I am guessing your are young and not had enough experience of the world yet to know better.

Nature is cruel, unmerciful and heartless.

No that is humans you are describing.

So next time you go `how wonderful mother nature is`, just think that right now there are beautiful animals being kiled in their millions, people dying due to storms, earthquakes etc.. all because of your `mother nature`

And your point is? Do you eat meat and vegetables? Oops the meat came from an animal that had to die so you could live. The vegetable had to die for the same reason. Some scientists say that tomatoes can scream when cut. Do you eat tomatoes? This is life as we know it and aside from what humans do to each other for reasons other than survival, nature IS beautiful.

I am still looking forward to your explanation as to why this is not YOUR Mother Nature. This should be interesting.

Without dark, there would be no light.....Everything has an equal opposite....for every bad thing, there is a good thing. Much of what we perceive as cruel in nature is actually not....it's simply survival. If animals did not kill each other for food, there would be a population explosion which would insure no food for ANY of them.....it's all a balancing act. The lion doesn't kill for sport, she kills for food to feed herself and her young. Man is the only animal that kills for sport.

It's all about perspective I've had front row seats to numerous Hurricanes the last of which was Rita. The memorable one before that was aboard the ex USS Kitty Hawk to conserve on fuel and being were a carrier after all they decided to cut right through the damn thing. Now 1069 foot long 89,264 ton warships don't have that much discernible movement we were moving that day. They secured the flight deck and all sponsons, we were only allowed out onto the fantail and what I witnessed was truly amazing. Our flight deck was 105 feet from the water and it looked the the crests of some swells was higher than that! We had a water fall from waves breaking over the bow and washing aft off the ship it truly showed how small and tiny we really were, it also showed how well the ship was built. Sponson 1 is on the Starboard/right side of the ship, it's on the left in the below photo was smashed in, it was pretty concave.

I found it all to be quite beautiful and it was definitely something most people got a rush out of, maybe you could use a good change of perspective to the world around you.

Wrong... most of what nature is (or remains to be) is the result of interaction between many forms of life, from the tiniest to the biggest, that doesn't only involves killing, but also collaborating, exchanging, parasiting or simply benefiting. yes there are predators that kill other more "peaceful" animals for food or just for sport, but they are not at the top, since they get parasited by smaller creatures like insects, worms and micro-organisms. Such deadly efficient predators such as sharks, as as instance, are very vulnerable to many kinds of parasites such as the copepod...

You're matching too many of these sensationalistic programs, and not enough of National Geographic. Of course, these programs are made to fit into the stupid capitalistic scheme of exploiting and killing each other, while it's just one aspect of life.

So you need to change glasses once again...

And yes, Mother Nature is ever more beautiful. Not only in her charms, but her diversity. The more you study it, the she is fascinating!

What is so wrong with a lion killing a zebra? Would you rather be on the menu? The lion will certainly not distinguish a difference, it just wants to eat. I got it, if nature is so cruel, then how about we round up all the wild animals, put them in cages and just spoon feed them so they will stop murdering innocent zebras.

Just sayin....

the earth, tho maybe not completely biological in every sense of the word, IS a single entity and as such has its own cycles and downfalls and growth spurts, if you think that there are more bad things than good things in garden we have come to reside in then you arent looking close enough and you are focusing on the blatantly obvious.. the earth takes care of its self, or tries to.. we human are a virus, we are not required and essentially we are not even a part of this earth, it would get along just fine without us, but those animals that you see dieing contribute to the nutrients in the soil do they not? with that "negativity" new flowers and plants full of beauty grow forth and allow hummingbirds to feed on them, glacier ice provides fresh water for the next cycle in the earths existence hardened magma and volcanic deposits build new landmasses, they provide new mass and they release pressure from the belly of the globe.. all things help to move forward in the infinite scope of time, and as such anything natural is necessary.. if you want to talk about the negative impacts on the earth then just go outside and look at your neighbourhood, feel the concrete beneath your feet and take a look in the mirror..

Don't you just love the power and atmosphere of a large electrical storm. It's one of the most beautiful things in nature, but also a very deadly and destructive force. BTW, killing animals to survive isn't evil, but I wouldn't really say it's beautiful, though the chase can be awesome.
