Apple too draconian.

Before I start let me say I have a Macbook Pro that I bought last year but I'm still not above pointing out some flaws of Apple here is some of them related to the iPhone.

They switched the type of screw on the iPhone so it's harder to open

They also pulled an app from the store because it altered default button layout in a camera program

They also have been sued for sharing personal information on iPhone and iPad users

They removed the WikiLeaks app without a reason why

They also ban competitive apps from the store

They recently banned Sony e-reader and Kindle may be next

Also they applied for a spy abuse patent to see if customer abused their device so they can reject replacements and repairs

Warranty voided because of cigarette smoke

A lawsuit against them because they refused to repair a device that had it's moisture senor marked as getting wet. Said it can create false positives

Even Microsoft isn't that bad. Glad I still have my old HP laptop that I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. Though if Microsoft ever did get to draconian with DRM there is always Linux and BSD out there to use. I also have a Android phone which is nice, at least Google doesn't ban competitive apps from the market place. Apple is too much of a control freak.

Did you know that they told the Church of Satan to take the "Made on a Mac" logo off of their site and then made a whole legal deal about it?

I'm a Mac user to by the way. Have been for over 20 years.
They're not perfect but they do make better operating systems than MS markets.

Mac OS X is okay, though I think Apple is becoming too restrictive.

Windows you can build and install it on a system that you want, albeit it can only be installed on that system and can't use the license on another install, so that's a down side but Mac OS only works on Mac computers so you don't have a choice.

If Digital Rights Management becomes to restrictive on Windows or Mac people always have the option of using open source OSes like Linux or BSD. That or maybe Google will make a desktop OS since Android is open source. Chrome OS is junk I don't see it only anywhere. The Android Honeycomb tablet OS will definitely compete against the iPad and will be interesting to see how both companies battle it out.

Yeah the fact that you cant install Mac OS X on other computers is kinda lame but on the other hand it might be a good thing since the OS was built around the hardware.
A good comparison would be how video game systems work. They have an integrated operating system that is made only for that hardware and then they usually dont have problems like normal computers do with games at times.

I've tried out Googles Chrome OS and I don't like it either.
Most distros of Linux are good, but even mass marketed ones like Ubuntu are not very user friendly since they require terminal access for installing apps and other features.
I personally don't have a problem with that but if you so much as ask the everyday man on the street what operating system he's running, he'll ask you what an operating system is or tell you Dell.
So sad.

Lol yeah or they don't know which version of Windows, or they give you a made up Windows version "I run Windows 2009" Uh okay lol.

The problem with Mac only being tied to Apple hardware is that it drives the prices up. Cheapest Macbook is $999, it has a 13 inch screen. I can buy a Wintel laptop with a 13 inch screen for half that. That's the downside to OS/Hardware specific integration.

I lost a lot of respect for apple when I got an Ipod touch for xmas and it needed to snych with Itunes in order to activate which is a problem since running itunes is next to impossible in linux.
I figured it would be as simple as being able to turn it on out of the box. Even when I finally got it activated it would not play nice with linux. I had to return it.


Apple is the go to computer for graphic design but they are so overpriced and severely locked down with so many restrictions.
If I wanted osx I would just run a hackintosh

Apple did start out as a higher quality product. It has become more about control since then, recent encounters have left the as evil in my books. Just check out their apple symbol and the garden of eden, they know it. I do not trust them.

If you knew that there's no iTunes for Linux and it doesn't say on the iPod box that it is compatible with Linux, then why did you open the package and try to make the iPod work on the Linux machine?

I'm not defending Apple on this one. On this one I'm defending the simple logic of understanding system requirements.
This is the reason I don't buy XBOX games for my PlayStation, and don't complain that certain Windows games don't play natively on Mac.
