There's probably not a gene that makes you like the color blue, or dislike artichokes either. One can't choose to like something that doesn't appeal to them without internal conflict

Well if there is a "gay gene" and some people are born gay then that trait would be the same as any other "undesirable" trait such as: mental disorders, malformed limbs, colorblindness, etc. It is an undesirable trait because a gay person has zero chance of reproduction except through artificial means. And, for obvious reasons, reproduction is a key requirement for the survival of a species.

I don't think we should persecute anyone just because of the traits they were born with, though. I must say that if it gets to the point where homosexual couples are choosing to have children through artificial means it becomes an issue. As long as they only adopt children then it will be okay. I just don't think it is right or fair for people to end up accidentally marrying their half-siblings because two homosexual couples picked the same person to either give them an egg or a sperm.Otherwise, I don't see anything wrong with people being homosexual or even getting married.

Has a 'straight' gene been found? What is the difference? You are either one of the other (sometimes both!). No one knows how or why, and really what does it matter? We are the way we were intended to be.

I have many gay friends and with some of the turmoil they have faced in their lives because they are gay, do you truly think anyone would choose to be singled out and persecuted?

As for comparing being gay to having a mental disease, that is completely asinine. A mental disease is caused by some sort of internal 'defect'. Since there is no gene that determines whether we are gay or straight, how can it be a defect if nothing is missing?

Lol this idea strikes me as being stupid, if there was a gene that made you gay then how would it be passed down the generations? Its obviously just a result of the person's personality or upbringing. Or maybe a conscious choice/ preference.
