I think you may be onto something! I was just going through some portraits of French royalty from the 1600s and there were no photographs of them either everything was painted...

I think this may be evidence that the royals from the 15th century are also Aliens!

Probably the same reason though, nobody has been around them with a camera to actually get a picture. In todays world people often forget exactly how difficult it is to have a camera ready at a key pivotal moment and actually be able to take the picture. Let alone if you were sleeping or abducted in some way. I doubt snapping a pic is the first thing on your mind even if you did have a camera on you.
