Last night I dreamt of a bird.

A strange and beautiful bird.

She flew in through my open window and lit on the bed beside me. She woke me from a dream of ancient times, unremembered by most, but hauntingly, torturously vivid to me. It was the dream I always have, of a lost love, of ancient times, past on to only a select few, only to those who can hold the memories, those who feel the loss of beauty, of peace, of battle, of love. In this dream I am leaving my woman and my peaceful village behind to help defend my people from an invading hord. In the battle I receive a deadly wound, ending my life.

A thousand years pass within a blink of her eyes, and I find myself again confronted by the return of this beautiful bird, albeit much later in life than in any other incarnation. I reach out to touch her, to embrace my lost love but she flutters around my hand as if to say "you may look but I can never be held", so I just look into her eyes and see a thousand years of time in an instant.

Lifetimes of love and friendship, happiness and sorrow and always, in every life I die before being able to hold her, to live my life with this beautiful bird, my lost love, the one I have searched for throughout so many lifetimes.

As I lay dreaming of this beautiful woman, this strange bird, I become aware of an approaching sound, a deafening roar, a screaming creature of maddening proportions, which threatens to rip me from the very ground on which I stand.

I turn to face it, drawing my sword to fight off this dream spawned beast from hell, its blazing red eyes forming the numbers 6:45! I brace to take the impact of this charging nightmare monster!

Torn from the dream I realize my alarm clock is screaming in my ear, it's 6:45 again.
I rise to face another day........

Now friends you have seen my haunting dream, yet it is only a small part of the world in which my sleeping mind resides, a world of steel, of blood, of a love so strong it bridges a thousand years of time, time remembered by only a select few, only those who can hold the memories............

I thank Ye kindly Sir!
I love writing Fantasy and Fiction. I am trying my hand at Science Fiction too but have found it to be some what harder to write.
