Hi all,

This is a pretty straight forward and simple thread.

How the hell do i combat spam emails without changing my email address??

I have a premium email address linked to my ISP and my mailbox is being slaughtered by spam. It hasnt been too bad untill now. With Windows Mail, i just block senders etc, but it is getting out of hand.

I just checked my inbox and in 3 days i have 469 new emails. 3 of those are legit and the rest are spam
i hate it!!

Can anyone help??

depending on who your mail is from they should have a spam filter in settings which you can adjust to what your needs are..I have one with msn and will NOT use it for all the spam that I get..use the spam settings/filters the way it suggests and you should have better results..hope this hepls

Kinda related... Recaptcha isn't working for my sites lately.. it's been hell.
Just update your messages, unsubscribe when you can't, block the rest and don't give out your email when you don't have too. Watch out for those spam sites.

That's a lot of spam. This happened to me years ago, though not to your extent, and I had to change my email addy as a result. I registered on a gaming site and blammo...spamapalooza. Since then I have 2 email addys with the same provider. One that only family and friends know that comes in direct through my mail, and the second that I use to purchase online, register with a site ect. I just check on the secondary address via webmail once a week. And they can spam the heck out of that as far as I'm concerned because it doesn't come through my puta's mail program.
I see that you are in Oz so your provider should allow for multiple mailboxes to be set up. (up to 5 from memory)

No idea on how to solve your current problem regarding blocking, however I suggest creating a new mailbox (email addy) and then reconfigure windows mail to the new address. Once you have done this you will need to check the old address via webmail while family and friends adjust to your new address.

I know it's a pain to change address' and notify everyone but it wont take long as opposed to dealing with that much spam.

Hope that helps a bit,

sanc'

I use Mailwasher Pro at work (haven't put it on my home PC as my personal Yahoo account has excellent spam filters in the web interface). If you don't mind shelling out a few nuggets it'll have your problems sorted in no time without having to change address. Well worth the money IMO
