Egyptian Government Shuts Down Al Jazeera: Press Credentials Revoked

www.thehalsreport.com

Egyptian state TV is now reporting the Al Jazeera news office in Cairo has been shut down and reporters are loosing their press credentials throughout Egypt.

Dan Nolan, a Al Jazeera correspondent tweeted the news early this morning. Nolan also said Al Jazeera's media licenses have been revoked.

Al Jazeera just released a statement saying it "strongly denounces and condemns the closure of its bureau in Cairo by the Egyptian government." The network vows to "continue its strong coverage regardless."

This is not going to make Egypt's citizens to happy I'm afraid. First the president refuses to resign, now they are shutting down the Al Jazeera Cairo news office, not a good idea. Listen to the citizens, they want change. Al Jazeera claims they will continue to report the news anyway. What will the government do then, come arrest all of them in the middle of an uprising?

While that's all fine and good and interesting...

I find it far more interesting that these tyrants FLEE TO BRITAIN of all places.

Tunisian President is reported to have gone there...

Now the Egyptian leaders' family NuBarack or whatever his name is... (Same as the OldBarack) flee to, of all places, Britain (and his sponsor, the Queen.)

Why wouldn't they flee to anther African/Arabian country?

Could it be that even though they all appear to (mostly) get along... like children arguing amongst themselves, the mother that controls them individually (in private), is their safe haven?

Al Jazeera IS STILL BROADCASTING as evidenced by earlier threads.
'Yes' the information you posted is technically correct, but you have obviously missed the 'latest' news posted earlier and still in effect.

News coverage is ongoing here.

No different than the West shutting down Wikileaks.

...Al Jazeera English' home office is in Qatar, right? And they have offices all over the world, don't they?

S&F&

...The articles currently posted on Al Jazeera are absolutely brilliant - well written, researched, everything. Kudos to Al Jazeera.

Al Jazeera is live right now and they are showing what is going on while the government media is showing Mubark shaking hands and mingling with the people and soldiers.
But yes, they say that their license has been revoked, "Egypt shuts down Al Jazeera bureau".
