Middle US Earthquake

While such a quake is unlikely, what would happen if a major quake hit in the middle US. This would likely have effects on the east coast and would probably have long lasting major ramifications for the entire US. What would you do?

Add some details here buddy. How big, where and how deep to start?

Looks up the New Madrid earthquake and you could make some guesses.

What would I do? Turn on the tv/ radios., fire up the shortwave receiver and listen to see whats going on probably turnoff water and gas service atthe entrances.Load the 1911 start wearing the shoulder rig 24/7around the house to protect us. Make sure local family is ok. See if I could help out locally. No biggie...

It's simple, leave the US...

I was thinking of a simmillar or greater magnetude to the 1811-1812 earthquakes in the New Madrid reagion. How would you personally react and how do you think the government would react.
