The Scenario...
You wake to the sound of multiple gunshots. The entire world seems to be filled with the rapport of small arms fire. You run to your front door and
look outside. Muzzle flashes and tracer rounds appear to be coming from all angles. The street, in front of your house is filled with smoke.
You notice, in a panic, that your electricity is not on.
As your mind begins to process the details you realize that, in one direction, you see police cars and military looking vehicles.
Looking in the other direction you see combatants dressed in camouflage clothing...
Peering into the light from the fire, you see this flag flying over those in camouflage.
Your mind is racing... You grab your portable, battery powered radio, in an attempt to find out what is going on, as your family huddles around you,
frightened and panicking. Frustration overpowers you as you find that every radio station on the dial is broadcasting the same Emergency Alert System
statement... A state of emergency exists and you are ordered to stay in your home. You have no idea, at all, what is actually going on.
There is open combat in your neighborhood. Nothing that you've heard of on the news, or in town, gave you any indication that this could happen. You
don't know if this is a local phenomenon or if chaos has erupted everywhere. You only know what you can see with your own eyes.
You own a few guns. You have a modest supply of ammunition for those guns. You find yourself in immediate peril. You find your family in peril.
Looking at your family, with no real information to guide you.. What do you do???
What do you do?

This thread is a response to the many posts, here and elsewhere, regarding revolution, uprisings, civil unrest, etc.
There are many people who seem to be literally starved for such an event to occur. They chomp at the proverbial bit and stir up the pot to the best of
their abilities. And while I do understand, and share, the frustration which leads to such sentiments, I do not share in the zealotry which
accompanies them. To my thinking, violence is a last resort and one to be undertaken with great hesitance and forethought.
To me, those who promote such acts have not pondered the reality of them. They have not weighed the implications or the severity of the burden
discussed.
Is the above what it would be like to wake up to a full on revolution in a western nation? Or is it what it would be like to wake up in the middle of
a skirmish between the police and a rogue militia group?
How would one know the difference?
Would you trust that the police were there to protect you? Or would you automatically perceive the men in camouflage to be righteous saviors simply
because they flew a flag associated, symbolically, with patriotism?
Do you stay in your house as the EBS signal instructed, protecting your family? Do you join in the battle waging outside of your door?
If so, on which side? And why?
I am interested, ATS, to see how others would deal with waking into this nightmare... I have my ideas of what I would do. What are yours?
