Although I am moving this weekend, I have lived in Lancaster for 20 years. Our current mayor is a jerk and most of us know it. The area he wants to
put the bird sounds in is our old main street called "Lancaster Boulevard" and is about a half mile long. Over the past two years they have spent
millions changing this part of the city. Even though we have a very high foreclosure rate and vacancy rate, the city has renovated the downtown and
built a large number of apartment buildings. The published plan calls for putting a wall around the area.
Lancaster has historically been a farming community. In addition, it is near Edwards Air Force base and home to a lot of secret aerospace development.
Currently, it is being developed for a wind farm and a solar farm. Beyond that, a Chinese car manufacturer is coming. This sleepy little town is about
to get very busy. The most top secret technologies are built and developed here, having a large of Chinese engineers in the same place will be very
dangerous and is a great way to steal our technology.
I have been tracking the changes downtown and don't like what I see. I have discussed it with people whose families have lived here for 100 years and
they don't like it either. The downtown is not being developed for the people that live here. One of the projects in the area where the birds will
sing is an artist loft. The building's lofts have four bedrooms and a glass shower that allows everyone in your apartment to see you shower. This is
very odd for a "Christian community" and it was paid for with redevelopment money. Most of the people living here don't even know what these lofts
are designed like.
The funny thing about the bird noises is that we have birds, why make fake sounds and why now? The downtown area is being developed for young urban
professionals who are single. We have never attracted that type, it is not an urban setting. Isn't it interesting that we having mass bird deaths at
the same time that the mayor wants to put in fake bird noises? As for hearing the fake bird noises, the main street has been changed and is not
friendly to cars anymore, the plans can be found on the cities website if you care to see what has been done. They mayor also plans on having constant
police foot patrols on the street in question, probably to make the Chinese feel safe from us hicks.
There is something rotten in the town of Lancaster. I have been told by someone whose family has lived over a 100 years that the Redevelopment agency
has been buying abandoned houses, fixing them up and selling them to local churches for $1. While it may not be criminal it certainly smells wrong.
The mayor's pandering to the local christian community is how he gets political support. Oh, I am a Christian and would be livid if my church
participated in such things.
This mayor also wanted to buy a plane for the police to circle the city 24 hours a day to watch crime. It is a very small city, about 150,000 people
with a low crime rate. Let me give you a possible situation that is very disturbing. Lancaster/Palmdale (Palmdale is an adjacent city) is home to the
development of stealth technology, rocket technology, high altitude observation technology, drone technology and all kinds of spooky stuff. If you
were an engineer working on this stuff and got laid off, you could drive one mile and get a job working for the Chinese car manufacturer, pretty
convenient way to lose our advantage in technology to the Chinese.
