Has anbody read or seen this? He doesn't seem to help the case against Bush very much. The part I can't understand, is that he says he wouldn't turn in his brother.

Lauer: "I guess a question that most people would want me to ask you would be that if by some strange occurrence, you were to find out where Osama was now, would you turn him in?"

Bin Laden: "I never think of this."

Lauer: "How can you not think of it?"

Bin Laden: "What do you think? Would you turn in your brother? Or half-brother. Tell me. I put the question back to you."

Lauer: "I think-- I guess, if he were accused of murdering thousands of people, you'd have to let him have his day in court. Let me throw the question back at you."

Bin Laden: "I think he should have his day in court."
Lauer: "Would you turn him in?"

Bin Laden: "Which court? And we'll go in circles. We will go in circles if you want to continue the question."

I'm sorry. I believe in family and all of that, but I'd turn my brother in. Just like the Unibomber's brother. Sometimes you have to break family ties.

He knows his brother is probably going to end up seeing, or at least knwoing about the interview. If he said he would turn Osama in, he would never hear from his borther again.

You have a point. I didn't think about that.

Osama speaks to some deeply held beliefs of even the staunchest capitalists in his extended family. They will never turn on him except maybe under torture. Hey, good idea!:lol

interesting post- thanks for bringing the interview to my attention! all i can say is, what a tough choice. i hope i'd never be in a spot like that.. i really don't know what i would do. i suppose if i thought it would be best for my brother, i would turn him in... but if it meant a death sentence for my brother, well, i wouldn't want to be the one who facilitated having my own brother killed, whatever his crimes...
