Very interesting study. (Though the video leaves a lot to be desired - I really resented using Anna Nichole Smith as an example of HPD).
BUT! That being said I have a family member who has this disorder and I can tell you it's almost impossible to live with! It's HORRIBLE and honestly I was talking with another family member and though we've tried for years and years to deal with this in a kind and loving way we're to the point of giving up.
It's always and I mean ALWAYS all about them.
The hysteria.
The over-the-top reactions to simple situations.
The meanness. Yes, out and out MEANNESS!
The day in day out drama drama drama - everything HAS TO BE DRAMA!
The need to be the center of attention even around young children!
A child in the family won a writing contest.
The HPD adult sat the little girl on her knee and said, 'You know, I wrote this book and published that book and yadda yadda, got my degree etc and blah blah blah' then went on to saying, 'When I was your age I was already writing books and winning awards nationally. Have you done that yet?'
UGH!
She just sat there stealing all the little girls joy and fun and happiness until the poor thing just wanted to crawl into a hole and not come out.
This disorder is horrific for anyone to have to deal with! If you know someone with this disorder I truly sympathize with you. Hang in there!
If you know a cure PLEASE let me know!
peace
