I think you are playing it a little too much. A warrant is issued based on
"We have probable cause to beleive Julian Assange committed the following crimes based on:
A - description of the activities that violated a statute.
B - description of the activities that violated a statute
C - description of the activities that violated a statute
D - description of the activities that violated a statute"
Issuing a warrant on nothing but "past activities" would not be legal. Also, its just about impossible to bring up any prior bad acts when they have
nothing to do with the current crime being charged for. In this isntance if a warrant is issued for assange, I dont think they could bring up the fact
he was charged sometime back with 31 counts and pleaded guilty to 25 of those and received a fine.
It bares investigation, since the truth, whether we agree with it or not, is the ultimate goal in any criminal investigation. Just because an
accusation is made by this company, does not mean its illegal, or even substantiated, but it does deserve attention and investiogation.
The goal of an investigator is to rule out suspects as much as it is to find the suspect. As much as Assange and his actions piss me off, trumping up
charges serves no purpose, nor would it deter any future actions by those following in his footsteps.
