Is the American Governent hacking my Email?

I wanted to post this to find out if anyone has had this happen to them.

I came home last night and there was an email in my box from myself, which I knew I didn't send to myself. After further investigation, I found out that the same email was sent to all my contacts on my contact list. After talking to a few of the contacts, the email contained a program that would automatically start scanning the computer of the one it was sent to. I tried to open the email that was sent to me from me, and my antivirus wouldn't let me.

Anyway, my first thought was TPTB since I know I am on their watchlist, just from the things I have said on this site. Now some might say that I'm being paranoid, but after I found out that Loughner was a member here, even though for a short time, I knew the government would be monitoring this site, as well as going through everyones posts and threads with a fine tooth comb. Many of my posts are anti-government and in some I have come close to the proverbial LINE, but I have never crossed it, at least I don't think I have.

This is why I think its Big Brother that got into my email and sent out this computer scan program to all my contacts, to see what my contacts are saying or doing online. It's just really odd that nothing like this has ever happened to me before, and now a week after the Loughner thing, it all of a sudden occurs.

So, has anyone else had a problem like this, or maybe can confirm my suspicions? Or even have any other ideas what might have happened? Thanks for your help...

You just got a virus or spam email which replicated and sent itself. It happens all the time.

It's not the American Government. Trust me, they have far better things to do than investigate an ATS member, however vocal they might be.

I would not worry about it, unless agents are kicking down your door, or you find a tracking device under your car, I think you'll be fine.

LOL...Well, I have never had to deal with this before, so I am trying to learn. Have you had this happen to you? Is this why you dismiss it so quick? Just curious...

its a fake. i have various emails from "Robert Swan Mueller" asking for some pretty detailed information in my junk mail account, i often reply back with profanity and the most hatred i can find.

They created stuxnet virus that killed the Iranian nuclear programme within no time.

If they wanted to monitor you, they won't send you some stupid e-mail.

Refer to tothetenthpowers post. These self replicating email viruses have been a blight on the internet for about 15 years.

Chances are that, if you ask, everyone in your addressbook has received an email from you recently, which contained a link or a file. This would be the first thing to address / investigate.

The people who write these viruses are very skilled and change the coding so often that malware and AV software stays behind the curve.

Something tells me you have nothing to worry about...sometimes our egos get in the way of our rationale.

Nope, not kicking down my door yet..LOL. Thanks for making me laugh. It's just that I totally distrust my government and maybe I am reading too much into it, or then again, maybe I'm not. Nobody can really say 100% one way or the other. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience in the last week. Thanks for your reply.

Your email account has been hacked, or like some pointed out, you have a malware issue. Download any free malware program and run it (I use Super Spyware).

A nearby university recently formed an off-campus study group on precisely this topic. The school rag reported on it a week or so later, basically an accounting of subject and result.

In a nutshell... (summarizing, not quoting)
It was determined the the US government has the means to snoop on any email it desires. It likely flags on key words and phrases that may or may not be of any value to them.
Those emails are sampled by personnel and if interesting, fully read and investigated.
The user is highly unlikely to ever know whether their email has been snooped or even if they are under any form of electronic or physical surveillance.
The constitutionality of this kind of action is in deep question but because the US Supreme Court is unlikely to rule against the US government on issues of national security, or even hear a case based on this subject that does not bear the weight of the press, it will probably continue into the distant-near future unchecked.
US citizens are not generally disposed to file lawsuits against this kind of invasion because:
A) They are not aware of it.
B) To safeguard national security.
C) Out of fear of their own government.

So again... in a nutshell... it is whatever it is, apparently.

Thats exactly what happened. Everyone got an email from me and when they clicked the link, it was a program that started scanning their computer.

Damn, I think that maybe I need to give ATS a break for a few days. It seems I'm getting way too paranoid..Geesh!!

No, the government totally respects you and your privacy. There is NO way the government would ever go to such a level as that.

What I would do is visit my local FBI office, sit down with them, and have a nice chat about the issue. Make sure you have all forms of ID, including the names of all your pets for the past ten years.

Nah, I'm just kidding, but I have actually seen instances where this type of malware was used, it actually was small town police department who had been granted a search warrant for someone's computer. Laws regarding never actually said the officers ever had to physically search a hard drive, so remote search was okay.

As for saying anything on ATS. . .I wouldn't worry so much. Always keep in mind that you just might be saying stuff they actually WANT you to say? You know? A little uuuhhhhh cat and mouse kind of game? One of the uuuhhhhhh mistaking a mocking bird for an albatross type of situation?? Like, perhaps it was in fact a weather balloon and not an alien ship kind of things??

Oh you get what I'm saying. If you have been confused by anything I've said, wait for a day when the chemtrails are heavy. . .be sure to wear fabric that's not synthetic, and just breathe deep, then relax for a while, and everything will be clearer. . .and you won't have to worry about a thing. You just rest, and let Big Brother handle it all. . .after all, the government knows what's best for us.

What bothers me most is that people take time to hook up their computers, read some stuff comment and interact with a top site, ATS, work on the most elaborate conspiracies, but fail to recognize sarcasm.

Seriously, though, I'd talk to my contacts, it could just be a simple worm looking for financial or other information sent from anywhere in the world.
