Shocking 60 Minutes segment regarding Gov and wackos

Hope the headline isn't too sensational but feel this important and worth sharing.

I had posted this link in several AZ shooting threads but feel it is worthy of it's own due to some startling revelations revealed regarding Secret Service monitoring unstable individuals who potentially pose threats to POTUS.

(60 minutes segment 1-16-11) Hear what his friends had to say about JL. Also clear indication of how he fit into tidy little "nut job" profiles. Quite convenient.

Worth watching even if you have to sit through a few Viagra commercials. Quotes below around 10:40

I was quite surprised at some of the revelations revealed by MSM. I have diverse, mixed reactions about it all.

I watched that segment last night. I found it interesting, to say the least. Really, it makes all the sense in the world to study the ways of your opponent in order to spot potential trouble. Its a shame that such important government agencies have to babysit these people though to make sure they get their meds and treatments though, when in truth they need to be supervised in an asylum. At least locked up they are tracked within a confined space with closely supervised contact with the outside world.

Jeese for a land of the free, you guys are the fastest on the draw to call for locking people who have committed no crimes away in some institution.
Which is funny in a way, because the goverment let them all out only a few years back!
there has got to be some other happy medium for these people than incarceration.
That answer only leaves too much room for abuse of the system.
Already there are far too many innocents under lock and key.With the signature of any doctor, the courts may at their discretion(assuming they have any) incrcerate people without recourse to the courts permanently or at least as long as they desire.
The LEOs and the medical profession cannoit be trusted to have this sweeping and badly abused power.
Too many cases of abuse have already occured.It is simpy another avenue which is used for supression.

No. Especially after the recent events. I mean, Christina Green was 9 years old.

My inner conflict stems from protection of prez vs. intrusion of personal rights. If I HAD to choose, I'd err on protection of the Prez / citizens even if some rights are trampled. But then that opens up the revolving door of conflict of beliefs in my head. I simply can't present a strong case for or against which is why I chose to remain somewhat neutral and posted for the benefit of the membership here.

Well, I think you've about defined the major ongoing issue underpinning the protection of the individual vs. the group. Almost every society has opted for protecting the group against the actions of individuals. Likely because of the internal conflict involved in protecting the individual from the group is so complicated.

Someone who hasn't done wrong (physcially) yet but could, or someone who has done wrong but was already dealt with, are two obvious categories of people who challenge an otherwise perfect system of individual rights.

I'd like to see that people who need medical help get it, easily. That people who need to be monitored for mental health issues which are statistically likely to progress to violence, are monitored. But I acknowledge the significant liklihood that bureaucrats and polticians and industry will misapply such a system. (for example, a canadian military bureaucrat access a vetern lobbyist's health files for dirt)

Which is why I'd also like to see such a system have a sledgehammer in place to land on such misapplication.

At about the 7:10 mark, they briefly interview some guy in prison who we are told got caught 'stalking' two presidents. He was identified only as "J.D." According to him, 'aliens' told him he could either attack a bunch of school kids or he could attack a president, so he decided to go after the prez. I tried to find out who this guy was but was unsuccessful. I was amazed this guy could retain his anonymity, and that this guy's story was never publicized. Maybe because he really sounds like another 'manchurian candidate.'
