Fav book is Devil's Teardrop

i'll actually be very surprised if anyone has heard of this book or it's author, since i've only gotten blank stares whenever i mention it. the book is called Perdido Street Station by China Mieville. it's my absolute favorite book, and it's a great fantasy story. the second book by him, The Scar, was just as good. i HIGHLY recommend them both to anyone who wants to read something new.


oh yeah, and Phillip K. Dick is a genius as well

Monty, just noiced your post about China Meiville.
I went to a Peter Hamilton book signing in '99 when 'naked god' came out. China was there at the same time signing copies of 'King Rat', but i ignored him completely, and went to ask Hamillton some pointelss and geeky questions about the confederation.
At some point during the evening, I went flying over my untied shoelace, barreled straight into China Meiville, and spilled my glass of wine all over him.

I've never read the book, but I have ruined the author's shirt Maybe it's a portent and I should go out and buy it...

Bernard Cornwell (Sharpe & Starbuck)

he stared to write about the american civilwar & his main guy was Starbuck but he stopped after his 4book. I was wondering if they were more being relised over in the US? maby they didnt sell them in UK cos they didnt catch on or sumit.

i havn't read King Rat yet Rex, but from what i've heard it's not as organized and involved as Perdido Street Station was.
