If the U.K Police want to Stop and Search you, then use this...

This is my first post in a long time. I have kept up with ATS, but feel that it has been slightly taken off its beaten path. I would like to steer some things back on course and show people what we should be focusing on, but again thats up to the individual.

Here is the nut of the post, under new laws the U.K police can stop and search anyone. They don't even have to have a reason anymore. So if your singled out your buggered. I have noticed the increase in police numbers over the streets the last couple of months. In shopping malls, with sniffer dogs at the bottom of escalators and acting as bouncers on doors.

I applied to be a policeman when I was 19 and filled in a 3 page application form. Then answers some basic questions online. They don't require any qualifications. And, I will tell you a mini story: I was arrested after caught on camera driving from parking lot without paying (the machines were off, it was late) after a performance. So I drove off. The Police turned up to my house and had a good poke around. Gave me the usual blaa. I asked them about my application to the police force and if it would be effected. They said, 'naa we have people in the force that have done a lot worse than that' was his answer.

So we have unqualified criminals in the police force... that makes sense.

Here is a link to a card that you can print off at home, anytime the police ask to stop and search you produce this card. They will literally run away. Do it, you have nothing to lose (if that is not a tautology).

I once applied to the police, I failed on a technicality in my application and was told to re-apply immediately being told I had potential. I didn’t. I didn’t do it because of the state of the CPS in this country and the pathetic culture in the police and the bureaucracy accosted with the sickening political correctness and target driven performance criteria that is crippling the system only to the benefit of the criminals.

Saying that however, my application was about 20 pages long in the end the checks were very through, I think they would have let me off with a few black spots but not something like fraud or violent crimes. I have never been one impressed by qualifications, for allot of jobs its more about the personal qualities especially in jobs like the police. You might have a BA in Criminology, but when it comes to telling some NED (yob) on the streets that he’s going to get nicked on a section 5 public order offence, your BA goes out the window and the guy next to you who has grown up in the real world and is street wise has one over you. Even at that however there are entrance exams, just to prove you can read and write and I am told the interviewing is very though.

Also I don’t think that card would do much good. What would do some good is to ask them if they have probable cause. Under the law they do need probable cause unless the Chief constable of the force area has implemented the Terrorism act. So if you’re just walking down the street minding your own business they can’t really stop and search you, if you give them probably cause but acting suspiciously then they can lawfully search you provided the officers can justify the search. It is true however I fear that this power is abused by the police, but it is wrong to assume they can just do it whenever they want.

I'm afraid I don't think it would be effective.

If they're going to search you it will have to be intrusive and if considered 'malicious' is a matter of opinion or 'your word' .

My advice would be to request the officer's name and number and threaten a complaint to the IPCC.

I'll fight for my rights as much as anyone but responding with a little ruffled piece of paper from your back pocket, for some at least, will be like waving a red flag to a bull.
