Biggest One Hit Wonder?

what do you think was the biggest one hit wonder? It can be a song, album, whatever.

I'll start off with (though I know you can guys can do better) LEN - Steal My Sunshine. I loved the song a lot more before I found out the band totally sucks.

Three words, three magical little words: "WHAT IS LOVE!?"

Maybe not necessarily the biggest but most certainly the best.

This is actually a much more complicated topic then some may realize. It really depends on many factors, especially when your looking for THE number one one-hit wonder. I'm not really familiar with a lot of music from the 80's back so many of those could make this list, especially since a lot of people back then didn't get the lucrative contracts singers do today. Back then if you could sing and it sounded good you pretty much got on the radio. I'm refering to the 20's-40's era when radio was THE thing.

There's several songs that come to mind though from the past 30 years (my lifetime).

I'm just naming some of the big one's I can think of. Now i'll tell you who was by far the most successful one hit wonder artist:

M.C. Hammer

When he popped on the scene with Hammer Don't Hurt Em' he was unheard of and for the time period the amount of money he made was insane. He got deals a lot of singer's and band's don't get today. They took a huge risk with Hammer, but no one liked anything else he did. They tried to promote his other songs, it just didn't happen. I mean seriously, ask anyone about M.C. Hammer and the only song they remember is Hammer Don't Hurt Em'. He just wasn't marketable after that. He wasn't one of those stars that got into drugs or alcohol or anything like that either. He was a straight up Christian. Fact is, nobody liked any of his other songs. The record company gambled large with him but lost a lot on him. I'd have to say he was definetly the most successful one hit wonder.

But as far as the Biggest One Hit Wonder song...that's a tough one. We'd have to break it down by era.

It has to be: Rick Astley - Never gonna give you up.
