I just came across a news story in the New York Times showing some absolutely stunning photos of nuclear bomb tests. Some of the filming methods are unlike anything I've seen before and are truly beautiful, so I thought I'd share with all on ATS who haven't seen this yet.

Here's a sample pic and go check the story over at here to see them all.

Who would have thought that warfare could be so stunningly beautiful, I just wish we could have had 1000fps HD video back then as this would be mindblowing to see in motion!

Enjoy

Solid evidence that beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder.

I wonder if the photographers suffered any ill effects from being exposed to the blasts? It would be interesting to research names and see how they died and their health status.

Excellent photography but I don't find anything beautiful about bombs and destruction.

I watched the movie on Netflix last night and all I can say is; Humans are stupid, scary creatures.

The Atmospheric tests were really freaky especially when they didn't really understand what would happen and were surprised when they blacked out a few cities due to the EMP burst.

Then when they detonated one of the higher megaton bombs it exploded at twice the magnitude they believed it would. I'm really surprised they didn't find a way to accidentally destroy an entire continent or two.
