Megacities on the move sets out to find solutions to one of the biggest challenges – how billions of city-dwellers can access what they need without putting intolerable strains on the planet. It focuses on how to achieve sustainable urban mobility, looking at all the ways in which people will access goods, services and information and make contact with each other. It goes beyond transport to consider ICT solutions, innovative urban design and much more. Forum for the Future, working in partnership with Vodafone, the FIA Foundation and EMBARQ, has produced a practical toolkit to help public bodies, companies and civil society organisations understand and plan for the mobility challenges of the future. It is designed to encourage action now and stimulate innovative products and services. We have created four scenarios exploring urban mobility in the year 2040, taking into account resource shortages, climate change, demographic trends and other major factors which will shape our future, and drawing on interviews with more than 40 experts from around the world. We chose this year because urban infrastructure is generally planned, built and used over decades. Looking at the challenges we may face in 30 years provides enough time to plan for and deliver a whole new generation of more sustainable solutions.

How beautifully rosy our future looks! What makes me laugh is how the cartoon lady says, "I swear he plays computer games for a living" to make it look as though, "if you join us in this vision, life will be fun and joyous! But if you don't, you'll end up like the grey haired, tired looking b***h in the ghetto!" Uh oh spaghettio..

Unfortunately these ideas aren't exclusive to a minority who have surely (surely!?) lost the plot, the fact is that there are many "think tanks" and organisations that are pushing these exact same Orwellian ideas and philosophies.

We are seeing more and more of these attempts at social engineering, usually focused around the "threat" of overpopulation or climate change.

And the way they will achieve it is through indoctrinating the future generations: Transformational Education - Preparing Our Children for Global Citizenship.

I think the ptb are in a position already to control more than you can imagine.

I am glad i never liked females, and this i think of a blessing in disguise, although my life was wrecked for it.

Bureaucrats, and there obsessions with control, no thanks for my life, i would rather live as a tramp, and nobody than in a system of blind leading the blind.

I keep on saying my parents generation of being born in 40's and 50's was the last generation where you could have at least some freedoms to choose life as you want.

I could not even pick what job i wanted and to stay single without absolutely astonishing pressures to confirm, no thanks.

Who knows how it will be, but one thing is for sure it will be just us and them.

One of the best way to marketing an Idea is fear of loss. It’s a real attention grabber. The decision to be made here, is whether this is a new marketable ploy to make money or a well thought out ploy for the formation of a police state. At this point in time it is hard to say, yet if you listen to the Doom Prophets we are on a collision course. And the documented research does carry enough weight to have a cause for concern.

Unfortunately predicting the future is a difficult task, but we do have a few barometers that can give us a glimpse at pending disaster. Water and Oil. Are the two big resources to monitor. Population Growth and Food Production. Financial Markets are another. Ofcourse you have think globally.

Are there ways to solve these problem? Is it too late. Has the ball of destruction gather enough steam that it can not be stopped? Maybe, but first you have to identify the problem.

Water:

Create new laws that govern the purification and distribution of water. No dumping of pharmaceutical or raw sewage waste into our water supply. Do not let companies export our water out of our country.

Oil:

A limited resource, but most cost effective. One way we can cut down on oil use is to change the way we distribute our goods. Do we really have to haul goods long distances from coast to coast to sell in retail markets. Why not just have it made locally.

Population Control:

Is there really any way to control the population growth outside of war, plagues and natural disasters. Or is a forced Birth Rate the only way.

Food Production:

Do not over produce food. Do not over Cultivate. It drains other resource system.

Financial Markets

Whether you regulate it or not, some one will create a new scheme that will eventually cause it to collapse.

I dont see that we have much choice in honesty, but to move away from cities that are falling appart.

Most UK cities have areas that are literally squallers, the shops are borded up, the streets are dangerous, people are sick, and there is no hope. The new design cities to me sound great, why is there such a problem about owning a car, when you can walk or ride a bike, and what you need isnt to far away to worry about having a car.

I wouldnt agree with pulling down monuments and listed buildings, as they are key to looking at our past and spiritually they are important as old civilisations have shown us, to allow the people to understand the need for progression to clean, safe and affordable cities.

I think we will always have areas of better wealth than others, thats just natural, but I do think if we all had better living standards, safer environments, abundant food, water and energy, people will get on much better.

The car to me is a bloody nuisance, everyday i have to drag it up and down the motorways, get stuck in traffic, clean it, make sure its a decent model to impress the neighbours and friends, and then every other day pull into a petrol station to fill the thing up with petrol which costs a fortune. All for what?

To just get to work or go and buy some food, or go to the cinema and all.

I like the idea of living in well designed areas, that are safe, and provide everything I need.

You go to dull, cold, silly designed towns and cities, and it drags you down mentally.

You could see it as socialism and all, but dont forget that humans are not robots and never will be.

We will just not accept crap, we will not accept things that are not good enough, and so those who are providing services and answers will have to come up with some good ideas.

I'm giving these developments the thumbs up, and not going to get dragged down into Orwelian negative speak, as we need to move on now, and this is the obvious future for all.

just shows you that the only objective on earth is controll. theres enough space on earth for everybody to live a beuitfull life on this amazing planet but instead we have a couple people with the space and wealth of bilions of people. makes me sick

If we're going to keep adding millions of people a year to the planet we will have no choice but to do this. I don't get why the people who are against all planing, zoning, and regulations are against keeping our population down, which is the only way we're going to be able to keep the same freedoms we have now.

If you want to live on a planet with 10 billion people then you have to have limits on building, driving, and resource usage.

If we manage to free ourselves from the yoke of golablists/communists/socialists, and get together as a species to figure out ways to live and love together in peace, we can put this piddling tripe of a 'planned future' to absolute and irrevocable shame.
These videos represent the best TPTB can conceive of in terms of perpetuating their system into the future. They simply cannot understand that their role in our combined future may be more in question and under challenge than they presume...
