Massive UFO sighting (Los Angeles, 1942)

I thought I�ve knew every mayor UFO incident, but I missed this...

I have just found the so called "Battle of Los Angeles" UFO case. Briefly, this is the story: aparently, in 1942, five years before Keneth Arnolds saucers over Mount Rainier, an enourmous UFO was spotted over LA. It was described as HUGE. Thought to be a Japanese attack (or so it was said), it was attacked with AA and fighters, but didn�t take any damage.
Finally the object went away and disappeared.

I have read up on every UFO case I have ever heard of, and this one also escaped me. I will do some further research, and see what I can find.
