I say just look for what Russia will be selling in 2008-2010 and you will have a pretty good idea of what china will use.

Maybe you can go to Pakistan defence website, and go to their discussion
forum, there are tons of topics talking about Chinese airforce, navy, and
ground force. The reason Pakistani like to talk Chinese military tech is
because 2 countries have military cooperation.

www.pakistanidefence.com...

The website and discussion forum is completely English. But this link does
not work recently, seems in maintenance, I think it will soon recover.

Do you think they would be using the Black Eagle MBT from Russia.

Yea I think they would have that tank or a chinese version of it by 2008 if not much sooner as russia seems to already have plans to sell it to S Korea. I would also expect them to have the russain S-37 Berkut by that time if russia produces them in large numbers.

Then they could have a Black Eagle on the ground and a Golden Eagle in the air

Did you mean North Korea?

What about carriers? Do you think they would have any soon?

I thought It was N Korea at first but I guess S Korea is in cooperation with Russia to build them as they may feature korean thermal imagers and they plan to purchase a number of them. Im sure other countries like China and N Korea India and numerous others will buy them too.

As for the carrier their has been much speculation on china wanting them some people claim they plan to refit a russain carrier for their needs. Others claim they are planing to purchase a light air craft from a european ship builder. There are still more reports that suggest that china has decided to build two or three indigenous carriers and that they have already allocated funds for the project. Non of these reports are confirmed buy it is evident that china wants to buy ,refurbish, or build a aircraft carrier. I think the type that china will have will likely by similar in size to those created by european countries rather than the Nimitz sized US ones

china getting the Su-37 that aircraft was an experimental one it is not going to be produced and any carrier the Chinese get whether from Russia or Europe they wouldn't have any jets to fly off of it the J-10 can it even take off from a carrier and the carriers would likely be half the size of the nimits.

I doubt that the NK will buy a carrier. Thier whole military is based on getting through the South. China on the other hand does have blue water ambitions. I agree that thier first carriers will be similar to the ones the British operate. If they get ambitious, in many years, one like the Degaull (sp?) that the french have right now. If they try to develop one, it will be many decades befoe you see them develop a Nimitz class type. That being said with the advent of UCAV's carriers may simply get smaller anyway. China has alot of catching up to do if it wants to throw thier weight around in the world. I can't see them alocating tons of funds on a true blue water carrier when thier is deficeint in so many areas.

I basically agree Fred's point here. There are a lot rumor that China is trying
to buy/make carriers but I really doubt the rumors. One is China does not
have enough fund, the other is carrier represent a strategy change from
defensive force to aggressive force, which I think will not be in China's
strategy in the forseeable future.

The other is the tech mature of straight take off aircraft like JSF will make
the aircraft much smaller and greatly lower the threshold of owning a
carrier. I think everyone know that Japan now is making about 16,000 ton
class helicopter carrier, I am very suspicous that they are playing tricky,
and I think their true purpose is preparing carrier for JSF. Because JSF
can take off straightly like helicopter, so just do small upgrade then they
will be perfect true aircraft carriers. I think in the STOL era, more than
60,000 ton Nimitz class carrier is not necessary, I think 20,000 ton class
carrier can do the same job.
