Hey there,
I think I may have seen the same thing twice ... 1st time was Oct 31st (about 10pm) ... the 2nd time was a couple of nights ago. I have mentioned it
briefly a couple of times but not started a thread (on either occasion) because I had no phone or camera with me to take pictures.
On the 1st occasion I also thought it was Sirius but then I realized it was not in the correct place ... it turned from blue/white to deep red and
moved west across the sky from it's southerly position then it stopped and came back to it's original point ... turned back to blue/white and
gradually got smaller and smaller until it was only a pin-prick of light then faded out (no clouds).
Then the other night I'd just taken the dog out for her last walk (approx 00:30am) and when I looked up there it was ... like a huge deep red star
twinkling like crazy (much bigger than a regular star) ... it didn't move this time but it did get smaller and smaller before fading out again ... as
before it was a clear night with no clouds.
This time I went back into the house and got my son to come and see it ... across to the east there was a plane with a blinking red light but it was
much smaller than the red 'star in the south and it wasn't moving this time at all before it began to fade.
Never seen anything like it before except these two occasions.
The reason I've responded here is because I noticed you are in Yorkshire the same as me (I'm in North Yorkshire) !
