I've heard that trying to counterfeit money by using a printer will cause it to automatically send a signal to the FBI once it reconnects to the Internet.

That's not true. I have copied, and printed money, but never in an attempt to counterfeit. I do it when I play poker, instead of chips, printed out "real" money.

That doesn't necessarily mean they weren't watching and waiting for you to pass it off.

" track us " ???????????????? , how ?

these forensic watermarks - are an ` after the fact ` technology - examination of a speciemin of print cannot tell you that it was printed by mr j blogs , residing at 23 accacia avenue , slough

rather it is only useful once the printer owned by a suspect is examined - then the speciemin can be shown to have come from thast printer

There's absolutely nothing in that article about these dots being used to track anything at all. They could be for a huge range of things. It could be anything from a kind of "signature" from the printer, status codes, or many more possibilities.

Yes, the link I posted talked about which printers that had small yellow dots that the human eye can not read. The how it is done. Perhaps someone can suggest the purpose for the dots?

No, "Tracking dots" does not mean the dots are tracking us. They could be also be used for things like calibration and alignment in addition to the other things I've mentioned. The definition of tracking you're going off of isn't the only one. Consider tracking on a VCR. They were hardly being used to track people

Making an old-school xerox of a printed page will show a small bar code of sorts. It's just to identitfy the printer, not the printer to a person. I've seen them for years. It's not a secret, nor a conspiracy.
