Jeez, I must use this forum more than anyone else.

I bought a new sound card a Sound Blaster, 128 MB one.

The first time I tried it, the sound came out nicely. But now, the sound is coming out very slow and convulted so to say.

Could it be some hardwar conflict or a software one?

I checked some troubleshooters and did'nt fine anything yet.

I would take it out and put it back it, make sure it didnt slip. If the problem still happens its the card. It did work fine right?

If there would be hardware conflict, the card wouldn't probably play, at all.

Before taking it back, (if you can), try it in another PC. If it works fine, you got some software conflict on your PC. (that's what is sounds like to me).

HAve you checked your "Device Manager" for conflict? (Hardware tab, in System-Properties)

Have you seen if anything (software, spyware, viruses, etc...) was eating all the ressources on your PC? (task manager)

Also... what kind of sound card have memory on it? (do you have a link to what you bought, or something similar, on the web? name, model, etc... just curious, never heard of sound card with x ammount of megs)

Device manager says its fine.

It worked once for me and now its like putting the sound into a blender, I'm going to call them later and see whats wrong. I'm at the site now and checking to see what they say.

On my bill it says "PCI 128 Soundcard" and the driver disc reads "Sound Blaster Installation CD copyright 2003".

Go too Creative Labs and get the very latest drivers. Then see if you get the same problems.

Yeah, that's what I was going to reply. Try installing the latest drivers if you haven't already.

And thanks (Jedimaster), you answered my question. Soundblaster PCI 128 is kind of like a model name. You got me confused with your memory thing, I thought maybe there was something new out there, that I haven't heard of yet.

Have you checked if there isn't something running in the backgroud, that could be messing your system up? Do sound drivers mount when windows boot in safe mode? (question for other IT people out there) If yes, you could try booting in safe mode and playing something, to see if it's still as messed up.

Hmmm...is the Sound Card a LITTLE bit more specific about the name?? They dont seem to have a SB 128mb on Creative Labs website.

Wait...found it....is it model number CT4750?

If so...they dont have drivers for it. You could go into the Deivce Manager and update the drivers for it.

The little start up sound plays, and so does the other ones, the dings and the chords. But last night I tested a few of my games, and their in good condition no deep scratches or cuts, and the games were lagging so bad, the sound was lagging and moving very slow.

Could it be a conflict between my video card? Its a nVIDIA g-force 4 MX 421 64mb SDRAM.

What happend was when I reformatted, my old sound card would'nt let the computer boot up. Also I wanted to take my Voodo card out and replace it with the nVIDIA.

As for the model number, I'll have to get back to you on that.

DLM

It's a Soundblaster PCI 128 (no "128 Mo", simply "128", it's just the series name) Therefor, why I asked him too, sooner.

Latest Drivers

Jedi

What you're saying is weird (I mean, sounds like a weird problem.) So windows sounds play correctly, but game sound doesn't? Can you play music file/cd fine?

Does your games have all the latest patches, and have you experienced this problem with a lot of games?

I tested 4 games, and they all had the same problem, very long and lagging sound while playing the videos before the game starts. With one (Hereos of MM II Gold) I got into the play mode but the gameplay was slow, along with sound.

I just tried an audio CD and it failed to work. I wish I was able to record the sound and upload it somewhere.

I'll try out those drivers and see if they work.

A question might be, what OS are you using? The one game you mentioned sounded like an older game... Oddly enough, I've seen older games have real issues with more modern sound cards... The CD player problem is another clue that you've got some software, not hardware issues....try uninstalling, reinstalling the drivers....as well as the card itself... Also, some old games require sound config within the game as well....
