Immigration & "Anchor" babies

I think it's time to rewrite the 14th Ammendment to the Constitution. I knew that there were too many loopholes for illegal immigrants to be able to remain in America, but this is downright ridiculous! I think part of the problem is that our politicians, in looking out for THEIR best interests, cater to these illagals because somehow they end up voting... although that is also illegal.

Don't be lulled into thinking that this is some sham story because it is on Rense (I know, the guy's lacking some credibility) but this is an independantly written piece that is very eye opening.

What should we as American's do about this? Should this be allowed to continue? I, for one, am irate as hell over this!

First some background before I get to my opinions on this matter. I'm white, and have had the pleasure of being born and raised less than ten miles from Tijuana, in sunny San Diego. I graduated from the local highschool in 1988, where I was considered a minority. Race ratios in my neighborhood are probably 70% Mexican, 20% Asian, and 10% Caucasion, just for a rough estimate. I consider myself lucky to have been raised in such a racially diverse environment and have no biases towards any race, creed or religion.

Having said that, reading articles like this one, about the Anchor babies, always infuriates me. I see no problem with foreigners entering our great country by legal means searching for a better life. It's only natural. Mexico is considered a third world country, and it is lucky to be right next to the biggest superpower, the good ole' U. S. of A. But if they want to come here, then they have to respect our laws and our people, and not take advantage of us. And that's how I feel we're being treated. We're being taken advantage of and our government doesn't really seem to care.

And to answer your question, I'm not sure there is much we CAN do about it. I almost feel like it's just too late to do much. With millions already settled, there are generations of illegals who know the system so well, that every loophole has been exploited, and to start doing raids now would simply do too much damage to our already fragile state economy. We can't just start kicking them all out, they would just be back tomorrow.

Ok, so I guess here are my ideas if we could do something.

1. Legalize every single illegal who can prove he is currently working here for a sizeable fee...payment schedules ok here. (Back taxes?)
2. Stop allowing foreigners born here instant citizenship
3. Get rid of that stupid law that stops local police from aiding the immigration dept.
4. Use the money from the fees to beef up the Border security.
5. Enforce stricter penalties to employers who hire illegal aliens, many of which are using illegal social security numbers.

Anything else to add?

Good post, I am a mexican-american, born in Culver City California, and no my mom is not an illegal immigrant neither am I an anchor baby, my dad is a white american, and they both met in puerto vallarta mexico a long time ago, they got married in both countries and then my brothers and me were born. I am totally against the whole anchor baby thing, I mean is not that i don't like mexicans man, but seriously there's just too many people trying to enter the US illegaly and that's what is not right, and the worst is that most of them are from mexico and south america, the thing here is that, i suspect that there is a lot of money at risk if the US shuts down the whole current immigration system, so my opinion is that "Yes all this illegal immigration has to stop, and the best way to do it is to change the 14th ammendment".

I agree but I'm not sure I would want any european country in mexicos place , or even another canada. I say this because those countries are the ones who envy us more than you think, actually they even hate us believe it or not. Japan would be a good neighbor to have in mexicos place.

there is a practical spect to this as well. The drain on the medical system. I work in a major pediatric heart center. We get 10+ kids a year that show up on our doorstep litteraly to have surgery. They show up very sick with some medical records and we have to help them out. I can't blame the parents they are just doing what they have to to take care of thier little one. I blame the system for allowing them to get this far.
