According to their website, the original founders include noble peace prize laureates, nuclear weapons specialists, and entertainment industry
professionals. It appears that primarily Matt Taylor, who is in their Tokyo office, is the top guy. The website states that he contributes 80 hours
per week to the fund.
Most of their work to date has been focused on foreign missions. The website is in seven languages and includes supportive statements from celebrities
from each country. –There is no religious or political affiliation, although the organization does negotiate directly with government agencies to
advocate public participation in dismantling nuclear weapons.
Their mission is to establish a direct line-of-sight for the general public into such activities, and most funding comes from various entertainment
properties donated to the fund by celebrities as well as from private donations.
There is a lecture schedule on one of the Japanese based affiliate sites for a movie that Taylor directed. It’s about zen monks who returned the
“atomic flame” to the trinity test site in 2005. www.GATE-Movie.jp
There are other hits that come up mostly on Asian and Russian sites referring to the work and events sponsored by the fund. They are also working with
Muslim pop-stars to spread a non-proliferation message via pop-culture music and radio. There is one radio interview in Arabic whereby Taylor talks
about his movie and the importance of abandoning the quest for nuclear arms to solve problems. It appears that Taylor, and others involved have all
donated their proceeds from his movies and books to the fund.
They are current on the 501-c-3 registry in four countries, including the U.S..
