I wish Shirakawa still visited ATS, he could turn it into and audio wave file and we could look at the frequency's picked up from your mic.

I live 30 miles south of Seattle. I just stepped outside (733 p.m. ) and at first I didn't hear any rumbling, just a distant HWY 167. (t's about 5 miles away) and maybe some traffic down the hill. After a minute of really listening I didn't really hear a rumbling but heard more of a very deep low vibration. My ears could feel it and hear a very faint, low deep sound.
My hearing is a little off though due to the Air Force, but I can sense a bit of rumbling.
I came back and listened to your video to see if it matched up, but I didn't hear any rumbling in the video.

I live in Washington state, west of Seattle. I just stepped outside to check, and i think i can hear an odd rumbling. It seems to build intensity, and then kind of fade. I have a freeway behind my house, and i can hear it over the traffic noise, which is much louder than the anomalous rumble. I don't live in any commercial flight paths, so i'm not sure what the sound is. I'll keep checking to see if i still hear it, and maybe try to record it after traffic dies down(too much background noise now).

Thank you so much for going outside and listening. My neighbor decided to cut down a tree tonight, so all I can hear now is a chainsaw. I'll go out in a bit when they stop and see if it's still there.

It has an odd characteristic, as to where you can still feel it over other noises.

An odd rumbling is the best way to describe it...with a deep resonating affect.

No, it's not the surf. I live over 20 miles from it. It doesn't have the same rythmic, ebb and flow as water. Good idea though, thanks for the input!

Very observant and interesting for sure
I cannot hear anything in the videos but, I cannot hear well at all so maybe someone else will be able to pick something up in them. I hope we can keep this thread going to see if you get more responses. Good luck in the pursuit
PEACE

Hey WestCoast - always good to throw these things out there ... before the 7.1 quake we had here in September many locals near the epicentre had reported hearing what they thought were "booms" coming from the local military bomb range practice area - except no bomb exercises had been carried out during that time.

About 2 weeks later the 7.1 hit...

Since then, there has been reports that "booming" preceeds a large quake - if I find any stories/links I'll add them..

We are still getting aftershocks and many just sound like distant "booms" or lengthy rumbles.

Ya know MoorfNZ, my gut tells me this is geological in nature, and conncected somehow to tectonic or volcanic activity. Ofcourse, you know how I like to rely on my gut...
But seriously, it so much stronger than I have ever heard it before and I just got such a strong sense of something coming...building.

You and me both. Maybe Puterman can do it...he seems very handy with audio files. I'm clueless. I might try and see if I have any basic programs on my computer to clean it up a bit...but that may be a very bad idea.

What you're describing seems like the same sound. I'm sorry about the video...its so frustrating!!! The second one, you can hear it starting to build at the 9-10 second mark. Try listening to it with earphones, if you haven't already. Thanks for the response...even though my family members heard it, it's good to know others in different areas are hearing it too. Gives the thread more credibility..thanks!!

I think your geological activity sounds pretty credible and if you feel something in your gut then you're probably not far off. Does anyone have any critters acting strange and clingy. Animals are a great indicator of things to come as a rule. My dog is anyway. Waiting in anticipation

My husband just stepped outside, (8:10 p.m.) and he heard/felt it too.
We're not sure what it is. Although we are near the trains and can hear them clearly and are in seatacs flight path it doesn't sound like either. It's like a low vibration. Here it hasn't increased and faded, it sounds more like a steady tone. Like a fighter enigne stuck in idle.
I thought it was coming from the north west toward seattle, my husband thought it was coming from the southwest toward Tacoma. This difference in direction could be due to the vibration reflecting off the cloud cover.

I was wondering if you happened to see the thread called GEOMAG SPIKE 12/28/2010. I really don't understand the graph but, maybe someone on this thread will ? It's under 21012 INFO / CONSPIRACIES if you want to take a peek

Thank you!!! I take it you are South of Seattle then. This would confirm everyone elses accounts. I just went outside and didn't hear it, but I still have a lot of background noise. I am going to go out again later, when things are quieter. Background noise aside though, it was still loud enough this afternoon to hear it/feel it over everything else, so if it is still there it is not as loud. Maybe it has moved further south??? (again, I am about 80 miles North of Seattle)

Thank you so much for your input...let me know if you still hear it later, etc...

What i posted is just a little bit of the second Video (which sounds more like a Train by the way),but i got some rumbling in the first one. Give me some Time to analyze both more and i extract it and post a response to Youtube later on.

Thanks for that....not sure about the clip though. I will see if I can mess around with it too.

It is really hard to capture, because of the distance and you just can't get the tone/vibration of it without better equipment.

Perhaps some of the other posters here that are also currently experiencing it can do a better job of recording it??

FYI....at the time of both recordings, there were NO planes, trains or automobiles.
I waited in between the jets, helicopter and cars going by!!!

I ran it by my husband and we looked at the atlas. He asked if there is a possibility of any mining going on out there ? We were truckdrivers years ago and I don't remember any mining, I remember apples onions and logs

Maybe it was a 'silent' earthquake. There was a report of such in 2004: www.komonews.com...
Maybe if you contact Washington Uni, they may be able to confirm or deny?

Well, here in this part of Washington I can't hear anything over my children and the Wii, but that unfortunately is totally normal Winter Break behavior.

However, they are actually boring a huge tunnel underneath Capitol Hill (Seattle) for the light rail. I'm not sure if they've started yet but I know the big tunnel borers were delivered about a month or so back, so it's plausible. I imagine the sound could carry pretty far resonating underground.

You can watch the progress on a webcam:
www.earthcam.com...
Although I can't really tell if they are using a tunnel borer since it just shows the station area.

According to Sound Transit, tunnel boring will be taking place around the clock:
