Thats because the present Govt are Shi'ites and after the US & Coalition Forces pull out there will be a civil war between the Shi'ites and Sunnis.

The USA got what they needed by looting the museum of ancient artifacts and over 21 billion USD of which most of it can't be accounted for, thousands of innocent people dead including loss of life among our forces....

yep....time to pull out, don't wait until 2011, do it now.

Oh, I have no doubt that the Shi'ites and Sunni's will be at eachother's throats the moment we leave the shop. However, we still should leave. Even when we are there, they are bombing and killing eachother. Better get it over with then. We are absolutely unable to fix the animosity between those 2 sects. So, better be out of the firing-line here, and save a lot of money we seriously need in our own country.

That may sound horrible, but reality is horrible in those countries. Europe needed 5 bloody centuries of strife and violence from enlightenment on, to be peaceful ,yet, even now, sectarian and ethnic violence is brooding below the surface (croatia, serbia, to name some)

It is a sad illusion that we, by force, can implement a semblance of peace overthere. Heck, quarreling seems to be a national sport in those countries.

The least it does is getting "the evil American' out of the equasion. 'S good for safety overhere.

Two possibilities might arise

1. Depending on the American intention, if America wants a permanent base in Iraq, violence might escalate somewhere within 2011 timeframe.

2. Depending on the American intention, if American wants to leave Iraq, it can since the Iraqi government has the confidence to keep security within its borders.

(IMO) US won't leave Iraq. The current Iraqi government is pro-Iran, it wouldn't make sense at all for US to spend billions of dollars on Iraq and then allow a pro-Irani government to settle in.

(IMO) Violence will escalate in 2011, this will be interesting.

Not that kind of bath....
Beware the Baath....

Iraq's Baathist factions form new party in Syria

29 December 2010 | 03:10 | FOCUS News Agency

Five Iraqi Baathist factions declared on Tuesday that they have formed a new party with the base in Damascus, Xinhua informs.

The five factions, the Resurrection Party, Revision and Unification, National Liberation Movement and Monadiloon Gathering, formed a new group called the Resurrection and Renewal Party.

"This declaration is not a new split case as some believe, it is rather an expression refusing the national dispute and fragmentation," said Khalid al-Samurrae, secretary general of the new party.
"The party aims at getting Baath to its familiar principals through cooperation with the national parties to form a wide popular base," he added.

The Iraqi Arab Socialist Baath Party was founded in Iraq in 1951 and adopted pan-Arab, secular nationalism as its ideology.
The party came to power following a military coup in July 1968. Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, who was assistant general secretary of the party, staged a successful coup in 1979 but he was overthrown by U.S. forces in 2003.
After the death of Saddam Hussein, many of the Iraqi Baathist leaders escaped to Syria which provided them with the freedom of political activities.

I absolutely agree with you. Let's bring the troops home. Why put them in harm's way? Karzei is a crook, and has decided that he can get more bribes from our enemies, so let's just get out FAST.

I couldn't agree more...From my understanding, the reason we are in Iraq(and will never leave) is because Saudi Arabia kicked us out of their country in 2003. Which would have left us without a jumping off point for any large scale missions. Hence, we attacked Iraq because of "weapons of mass destruction" in order to instantly move all assets over to Iraq. If I remember correctly, the fifty year lease that we had with the Saudis ended in 03 and that they decided to not renew it. I don't believe we are under a "lease" anymore in Iraq and it will be our new jump off point until we are ran out of the country by the Iraqis themselves.
