I guess what I find interesting about this article and in particular this snippet on the forming of the North American Union is it that it brings up a view that a NAU will not erase the borders. This is different then what people like Jerome Corsi seem to think. The fraudulent war on terror is the main trust behind the move towards a North American security perimeter. Will it keep us safe, will it be easier to travel across the border, will it increase trade ? Probably not, but it will give the U.S. more control over the continent. Maybe as much as a common security perimeter it is suppose to keep people from coming in, it is suppose to keep us from leaving?

Canada, U.S discussing security perimeter, says Harper

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has confirmed Canada is holding “discussions” with the United States on a deal that would tighten security against external terrorist threats and improve two-way trade between the countries.

However, he said no agreement has yet been reached and the talks are continuing.

Harper made the comments in a wide-ranging interview with CTV News which was aired Saturday.

He fielded questions ranging from election timing, the next budget, the economic recovery, and the future of Afghanistan.

On the issue of Canada-U.S. relations, Harper stressed his government is doing what is right for Canadians.

Mulroney says perimeter deal with U.S. good for Canada

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney says he believes a new security perimeter arrangement with the U.S. represents no threat to sovereignty but does offer a necessary insurance policy for the Canadian economy.

Mulroney, who negotiated the Free Trade Agreement with the United States, said Tuesday the heightened tension over security as a result of the 9-11 terrorist attacks threatens the free flow of goods across the border, putting at risk a key pillar of the economy.

"I think it's a good idea and I think it's getting closer," he said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

The free trade deal and the subsequent North American Free Trade Agreement that added Mexico to the liberalized trade zone was aimed at removing tariffs from a wide swath of goods exchanged between the three countries.

Its possible its a ploy. If the people scream and fight over the borders staying in place, the solution is simple.
Tell the people the borders will stay in place. Implement all other parts of the NAU, and then when thats done,
make the moves to erase the borders.

Thats how they do everything else. They lie first, lie second and lie last.

IMO, it will become harder, and more difficult. We will lost more of our freedom incrementally. Just as interstate travel within the US has infringed upon our rights.

And yes, ultimately it is to reduce the freedom of travel. Ultimately, yes it will keep us from leaving legally.
