The President of Austria, Thomas Klestil, died this evening at age 71, two days before his six-year reign as President was to end. He had been suffering ill health and was admitted to the hospital Monday with cardiac failure. He passed away today with his family at his bedside.

Klestil died of multiple organ failure, a spokeswoman for Vienna's General Hospital said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

He had been airlifted to the hospital Monday after suffering heart failure.

Klestil's second six-year term in office was to end Thursday.

I just wanted to elaborate on something I found odd about this story.

It seems very strange that his term was scheduled to end in two days and he suddenly dies of "multiple organ failure".

It almost reminds me of part of the movie "Dave"...

Kinda weird.
