Wikileaks writers killed in Kenya
By News Release :: 2876 Views :: National Politics, World News, World Politics [Click to print]

From Wikileaks: Two Wikileaks-related senior human rights activists have been assassinated. We ask for your assistance.

On Thursday afternoon March 5, Oscar Kamau Kingara, director of the Kenyan based Oscar legal aid Foundation, and its programme coordinator, John Paul Oulo, were shot at close range in their car less than a mile from President Kibaki's residence. The two were on their way to a meeting at the Kenyan National Commission on Human Rights.

Both had been investigating extrajudicial assassinations by the Kenyan Police. Part of their work forms the basis of the "Cry of Blood" report Wikileaks released on November 1 last year and subsequent followups, including the UN indictment last month.

The worst that can happen, is that Wikileaks pros are telling BS.

This happens in this thread.

This thread was not made to tell bs. This thread was made because i thought the remark deserved further enquiry.
I really do not know what the real context of the remark was, because it was not eleborated on. I do not know if it meant people have been killed. Or as another poster put it, it could have meant a career assination.

I am sure in the future further particulars will come to light..

Better pull your boots up boys! The bull#e is getting thick.

Assange becomes more pathetic each day. If Assange really had something significant, why would he not put it out there from day one? If I had thousands of "secret" documents, I would weed through the trivial nonsense, post the BIG STORY and disappear. Assange is more concerned with blowing up his ego than exposing truth.

Thank you for you input.

WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange has won the Amnesty 2009 New Media Award for work exposing hundreds of recent extrajudicial assassinations in Kenya.

A very sad cost for speaking the truth..

Four people associated with investigating the killings have themselves been murdered, including noted human rights lawyers Oscar Kingara and John Paul Oulo, who were assassinated driving to an afternoon meeting at the Kenyan National Commission on Human Rights in March.

In accepting the award, Mr. Assange stated "It is a reflection of the courage and strength of Kenyan civil society that this injustice was documented. Through the courageous work of organizations such as the Oscar foundation, the KNHCR, Mars Group Kenya and others we had the primary support we needed to expose these murders to the world. I know that they will not rest, and we will not rest, until justice is done

maybe these are the killings being refered too..

Seems like he was right, a few of his writers were killed as evidenced by that story from 2009. What you say you doubters now?

Its being clarified now on the AP wire but no media outlets (major) are picking it up. Surprise uh? They'd rather let him sink than clear it up, its a sad media we have today for sure.

WL has has reported many things of relevence, go and do a google search of the issues covered...
For the first time in recored history two wars have been objectivly covered? That my friend that is no trival nonsense,
there is nothing trivial about war...
You do not post the big story... it is the thousand facets of truth you post. Nor do you dump them all together or they will not be digested and easier to brush stuff under the carpet...
He is a journalist and ofc he spins the media, that is an important aspect to getting your news across to a many people as possible..
so i guess maybe it is good you are not a journalist because your big story would be quickly lost..

Bend the rules but play the game...

I will agree they have done some good journalism, but now the emphasis seems to be on marketing and getting the wikileaks name out. They are just trying to build the brand. At the end of the day, they are better than average journalists with a catchy angle. Assange does not have the holy grail, therefore he should go back to being a journalist and not a pretentious media whore who thinks he is the gatekeeper of all information.

You do not even seem sure of this statement, hence the question mark.

Well I'm just ready for him to get it all out so I can slowly digest it and crap it out.
